I don’t know if this is its intended use but it keeps political discussions isolated in their own corner instead of having it in the general discussion section.
And that is a nice thing. Last thing I want is politics everywhere. You note that although I participate there, I am not a "regular". I have to be in the right frame of mind to post there. That doesn't happen all the time.
