67 barracuda notchback restoration

Glad i could help with your fuel gage IVR issue. I am biding my time or in a holding pattern as they say. Parts are coming in slowly that are needed, i will be assembling the 8.8 for sonnys 69, and get it underneath as a roller. I have the cordoba big brakes for it as well. Just going to piece the shell together so its all in one place temp assembled. I need to buy an axle carrier spreader tool for the 8.8 so i can reassemble it.

Medications and a child psychiatrist are working. I want all these kids to all grow up, move out and live productive and happy lives. Until then its a daily struggle. Actually have 4 crumb snatchers. Oldest turned 19 and beat feet outta here. Prob couldent deal w the craziness. Got 3 at home. The 11 year old pretty much keeps to herself. Youngest like me has aspergers. Makes me a perfectionist, he is same way. I understand him more because he is like me in a lot of ways. Its interesting because at his age the girls broke their toys all the time. They didnt value anything. Yet he is building plastic models with my help, and proudly displaying them on his dresser. I am scratching my head with that one, how they are that much different.

Well i got brakes bled on my truck. I partially blew out master cylinder doing a panic stop a month ago and almost T boning a honda civic. I was headed to D/FW to pick up the main floorpan for my sons cuda from Summits warehouse there. This dummy jumped out in front of me on an access road on way to the warehouse. I hit the brakes hard and steered to the right. Missed him by inches, almost **** my pants. Then i had to drive 2.5 hours back home with a low pedal and a brake warning light. Front and rear brakes at the wheels were redone not too long ago. I decided i would change out the brake flex lines with braded steel lines. I couldent power bleed it with a mityvac to save my life. Had a buddy come over, we did the ole pump n hold method. Good clean streams of fluid, solid pedal. Now i can get the wheels back on, and get my truck out of the shop, and back to some mopar work. Like finally take my block to the machine shop.

I'm glad you got it fixed up.
I had a similar situation a handful of years back. I was in a 3/4 Tom Ram Diesel and had to hit the brakes to avoid a person who was in the right lane and wanted to take a left hand turn going about 50 mph. I actually stood up out of my seat to get as much leverage on the brakes as possible. I stopped just in time to miss killing them but my brake pads shattered completely off the calipers. That was a real mess, and not just in my pants. L.O.L!!!
On a side note, we had a nice break in the weather today, so I actually got a chance to take to take the Barracuda out for a spin today, Thanks to you. The fuel gauge is working perfectly. Now I am back to finishing up the break in procedure on the new differential. Yah, Back on track!
Anyways, glad you got to work in the shop a bit, even if it wasn't on the notch back.

Got some new pix of some painfully slow progress on my 67. Wow Oct 4th 2018 i posted that next week i was going to take my block to the machine shop. Here is is April 3rd 2019 and i just took my block and rotating assy to the machinest today !!! Yep time moves painfully slow around here. 360 block forged internals. Going to be a pump gas 408. Will get a total on the job cost tomorrow afternoon. China Freight 1 ton hoist came in handy again. Picked it up to pull my truck bed to change out a fuel pump a number of months ago. Center shop roof truss i have hoist mounted to is a boxed in I beam setup. Solid.

Also pulled a complete end to end shock crossmember from a 71 scamp a fellow fabo member and i bought to take apart for the sheetmetal for multiple projects. The crossmember will be headed into the sandblast cabinet soon. Looks wet as i washed a mouse house and dirt out of it before i let it drip dry

I sandblasted the shock crossmember, and hit it with some leftover epoxy primer. The edges i left bare for 2 reasons. 1 i want to weld up and grind smooth the divots left in it from drilling out the spot welds, and 2 i am going to spray the flanges with some 3M weld thru primer. I am thinking its much better to just replace the whole crossmember than to section a piece of one in. Plus the scamp parts car had one that turned out to be in exellent shape once i bead blasted all the dirt and light rust scale off it.

Well this one is going on the backburner for awhile. My son and i are working on his 69 barracuda coupe that i finally brought home from storage about 5 weeks ago. Making good progress concidering the 69 is a mess, and needs a lot of work. I will get back to my 67 someday. But it will store well in a corner of my shop until that day comes, until then, my little buddys car is first. Please see and follow our resto thread 67/68/69 cuda dilemma.

Cheers!!
Matt

I always look for your updates-very informative.

I always love reading your posts.. you do such damn nice work. I know my stuff will never look as good as yours, but it's nice inspiration :)

Take your time brother. Try stuff out on scrap metal first. I try to be very informative to give you some ideas for your mental tool box. Thats what i refer to the human brain to my students when i am teaching aviation sheetmetal repair at my job. I also let em practice on scrap parts assigned to my department before letting them work on what we call a "live" part.

Mistakes are waaaay cheaper to make on scrap junk than on live parts. Your car is a "live" part. Take your time. Think stuff through, look at the forums well before taking a cutoff wheel, and a drill to it. Theres several threads where people have stubbed a front clip on Fabo, and wrote about it along with pix. And above all practice, practice until you have it down well enough with the welding fab, then your on your way.

Not much to report. I did hit the junky and picked up a better throttle cable bracket i could use out of a late 70s early 80s Dodge B350 church bus. Too hot out here, and sons car is priority. Hacked off the kickdown lever mount.

Wow it's been awhile since I posted. Working on a 67 C body axle. Cutting the perches off it, and cleaning it up. Having it cut down to stock A body width, going to weld new perches on.
