Sup,

A few months ago, I did mention on the FABO forum that I'd buy the 140-11019 or 140-11019-D Wilwood kit for my 1974 Dodge Dart "Hang 10".

I've seen many posts about SBP/BBP, Disc Spindles, Drum Spindles, up to 72, 73 and up, 2" drop spindles, etc., etc., etc.

Initially, I checked on Jegs and Summit for that kit and, both would say it fits my Dart... Then a few weeks ago, when I checked again, Jegs suddenly mentions "2 inch drop spindles". So I go on Wilwood, check the product directly... it says "magnum force 2 inch drop spindle". I go on Summit, it only mentions "disc spindles". Even the instructions PDF on the Summit website never mentions anything about a "magnum force 2 inch drop spindle".

So I check the spindle in image... I check various websites and I notice that some parts websites list a specific disc spindle as A/B/E body Disc spindle...

Wilwood says it doesn't fit (e-mail) but I'm kinda skeptic... Not in a "I don't wanna acknowledge it doesn't fit" but rather "Why does it suddenly not fit anymore when the previous instructions shows it fits ?"

Anyway, if you have the 140-11019 kit installed, can you confirm exactly which spindle you got on ?

I searched around for another aftermarket kit and found BAER Brakes with beefy kits from 11 to 14 inch rotors !

They advertise them as B/E-Body Mopar compatible but do list 73-76 Darts "OE disc spindle" compatible. So, I've reached them and asked to clarify if I need a B/E Spindle or keep my 74 OE Spindles...

The system in question (Baer SS4+ Front kit) fits the OE 73-76 Dart disc brake spindle which is similar to the 73-up larger B-Body spindle.

Looks like I'm going for Baer brakes instead of Wilwood.

I am as confused as you are ! But for clarity , there is a big difference between a-body factory disc spindles and a-body drum spindles . the disc spindles are longer so therefore the caliper bracket si longer . The hubs are most likely the same . The Wilwood hubs have 2 bolt patterns . one for 4" bolt circle and one for 4 1/2" bolt circle . There are different brackets for the system with the large rotors (makes sense) . What Wilwood trys to do is make a few hubs work for as many applications as possible while offsetting the caliper bracket to accommodate individual applications . they also offer street kits and race kits . the difference is the race kits have 3" studs for aluminum wheels . Again , makes sense . So, if this helps , a lot of their parts are interchangeable .

imo You're good. 140-11019(D, DR, ect) fit the 73 and up disk spindle including MF drop spindle.

I've looked into all variations of Wilwood kits as it pertains to spindles when I as exploring options for my 72 swinger. As far I can tell, the 140-11019 had long been available for the "Disk" spindle but needed a slight revise to ALSO accommodate the MF Drop spindle. Most likely for MF's goofy flat head bolts it uses for the ball joint.

I've replied to Wilwood's initial answer that I don't understand why "the kit suddenly doesn't fit anymore" as it was listed for A-Body disc spindles a few months ago. Here's their answer.

It sounds like there may have been some miscommunication. We haven’t ever offered many kits for the 1973-76 A-Body/Dart spindles, though we do have options for the earlier 65-72 spindles as well as the 73-76 B/E body spindles. Perhaps you were looking at one of these applications?

The 140-11019 kit is specifically designed for use with Magnum Force 2.00” drop spindles, which is how they come into the mix:

140-11019 kit
140-11019 kit specifications
140-11019 kit fitment listing

The 140-11019 kit has been around a while and i'm certain it wasn't always a MF ONLY kit.
Here's a member has it installed on his 73 Disk brake spindle back in 2013. He installed it no problem but his aftermarket rims rub.
wilwood disc brake ?????

Wilwood answered my last e-mail (not going to question them further)

While it’s possible that other companies may offer a kit which can be adapted between those spindles, there are differences.

Frankly, it looks like the kit may be mis-listed on Summit’s site, which is something we will need to address on our end.

I'm not going to take any chances, I'll go for a Baer Brakes kit. Also, I think the Baer kit is more maintenance friendly than Wilwood's as i can replace the rotor without removing the hub from the spindle (big plus for me).

I’m glad I found this thread. Had the exact same question. When I was looking a couple months ago it mentioned nothing about the drop spindle and last night before I ordered it all the sudden it does... they list one kit that will fit 140-15465 Wilwood Disc Brakes - Front Brake Kit Part No: 140-15465-DR

But I haven’t seen anyone carry it other then wilwood directly.

Honestly I was looking at the Dr Diff stage 3. Less headache I think...

DoctorDiff’s kits are awesome. I have his stage 3 kit on my Duster. It’s an awesome set up, the 13” rotors really haul in the 275/35/18’s I have on the front of my car. And everything but the hubs are basically off the shelf if you need to replace parts. You can get pads and calipers almost anywhere (they’re PBR calipers). The rotors are just redrilled C4 rotors.

They do require 17” rims, if that’s an issue for you.

Nice ! I would have gone with BAER SS4+ but it doesn't clear my 14 inch wheels. I have to redo the brakes on all 4 wheels and I don't want to buy a brand new oem kit to replace it with an aftermarket the following year... So this is great news. If it fits my current wheels I'll get the "D" kit (I don't care about caliper color, so least expensive one will suit me).

The two kits, 140-11019 and 140-15465, are identical in every way except for the 1 part-->The caliper bracket.
Both kits use the same Hub, Rotor, Caliper and hardware.

Which is curious because the MF spindle and Stock spindle can use the same Stock Caliper no problem but for some reason those two spindles can't mount the same Wilwood caliper.

I know it’s totally weird. Went on Magnum Forces website and it lists the 140-11019 as fitting everything 73+ and says nothing about needing there spindles.

I agree with you that it would just about have to work. But if I’m going to spend the money might as well upgrade to the Dr Diff stage 3, not as flashy but they are 13in rotors which is plenty for what I’ll be doing.

This thread is dated but I can confirm much of what's being said here. I also contacted Wilwood to learn what's up since there are vendors selling the MF only kit with no mention of MF spindles - and the kits are priced less than the 140-15465 series kits only available from Wilwood. Resellers need to be clearer. Here's what Wilwood said:

"Unfortunately the 140-11019 won’t work on the OE spindles to the best of our knowledge. We use different caliper brackets and different hardware in the 140-15465 kit to accommodate the OE spindles vs. the Magnum Force drop spindles."
