318 time slip

Great reaction time!

Nice 60 foot.

7.37 in the 1/8

gear's a little steep for my likin'

what kind of gas was used?

Crazy it's quicker than my brothers 4.30 gear 410 .550 lift ported eddelbrock head 67 barracuda.....im going to laugh when he sees this.

Looks similar to the timeslips my old 318 ran
71 Duster. 3400 with me in it(320 pounds), flat hood, factory bench seat interior, etc, etc
10.4 compression, iron heads, 4.10 gears. Shifted at 6200
11.60’s
Google....... LA confidential Mopar for a link to the build

Nice run! Since more of us should build 318s... encourage us with your 318 build specs and ballpark budget. I currently have a 318 with a lumpy cam that I want to get the most out of...
I’ve been saying for year it is possible to have a good 318, build what you have. But the majority everywhere love to chirp in and claim them a waste.

I just can’t always see spending $700 or $800 on a unknown quality used 340 engine and start machining from there IF it passes a sonic check. I’ve been on a budget before and I have found nothing wrong with the smaller engine. It has the predicable lack of torque in which you help by a gear change.

A 318 car. .030 over 318. 14 to 1, W2 heads,Enderle injection on methanol. 5500 stall,Glide with a brake, 4:88 with a 9 inch. 2750# with driver. Ran 9.95 @135.
Fun stuff.

The main difference between the 302 and the 318 IIRC is the 302 heads flow like crazy in comparison, and it is a very efficient engine out of the box.

Huh???

There was a guy around here that ran a dart with a X head 273, ran high 10s in the 1/4 mile. Small engines can be fast

I don't see anything too impressive here except for the torque specs. Hard to believe a short rod /3" stroke 302 could make that much torque.

Short stroke doesn’t Necessarily mean black toward. I love the engine masters 383 challenge with the Mopar 383 came in a lot stronger than the 383 Chevy.

I think that may be a mistake since the 273 needs a notch for the 1.88. How doesnan2.02 fit? LOL!
I've always loved the 318! I'll take them all. ;)
Yes sir!

Decades ago at this point, Ehernberg of "Mopar Action" fame wrote of a 67 273 Dart in West Virginia ( I think), name of the story is "Darn Dart", "X" heads, TRW pistons, .509 cam as foggy memory recalls.

Hummm, 2.02 + 1.60 = 3.62 in a 3.63 bore size.
And the 1.88 needs a notch.....

Hey! What ever! Let me know how it runs when you get there.

At one point I had a 318 with Indy/RHS heads prepped by Brian @ IMM... weren't those 202/160? I can't remember they are long gone. Shoulda kept them.

My 318 was .060 over though...
