Hello
I'm at a stand still here, can someone please advise me how this damn bracket goes on correctly ?
I've been told that this front lip on the outside of my bumper should be under the bumper, which I agree with but if I do that it seems like these 2 chrome tips will snap off, what am I doing wrong.
Is it possible this bumper was put on wrong ?
Thanks.

Look at the same 2 bolt ears on your rear bumper where tag lamp attaches. Both bumpers are the same part. I have no clue how those ears on your front bumper got bent downward like that.

So you mean those 2 pieces that are sticking "downwards " should be pointing forward ? Towards the bumper ? Not towards the ground as they are now
If they are removed, what will happen, cause it feels if we bend then to much the chrome on the bumper will pop off

Not bent forward, bent back towards the radiator. The tabs should be horizontal, not vertical.
Once the chrome tabs are bent towards radiator, you may have to massage the bends on the license plate bracket to get all lined up.

Assuming someone probably bent them down to attach a plate directly to those two tabs instead of getting the correct mounting plate.

Hold my response. Now I am wondering and need to look. Like Redfish says, check back bumper tabs.

Once you get the tabs flat, the bracket will mount on top of the tabs.

^^^This is correct ^^^
The chrome may crack if it didn't already when the tabs were bent.
68original Alternative way to mount a tag is a good guess as to why we're seeing this.

Confirmed on all of my Barracudas - tabs are horizontal pointing BACK towards radiator.
Cuda Al is correct; bracket goes on top of the chrome tabs.

Guys,
I'm sorry I had not seen any posts after RedFish, when I asked if anyone else had any idea

Now that you are talking to me about those tabs and the small pic sent here is not really explaining anything to me.
When you say the tabs horizontal facing back towards the radiator, in taking that they must point upwards ... To the radiator, no ?
What I need to know is those little tabs (ears) that I have are pointing downwards for me, that means the 2 holes on these tabs are facing "down"......which way should those holes be facing towards ?
Thanks to everyone.

OK, OK, OK, OK, OK ...I JUST GOT IT..... MEANING THE DIRECTION OF THE TABS.
I have been at home since I posted my bed of help here.
So I didn't/couldn't understand about which way they should point, I just looked at the picture again and realized what is meant "towards the radiator" I just saw that this means backwards, upwards, etc... Towards the rad.
I believe they must of been pulled down so a plate can be installed, because the bracket was missing.
I hope I got it right now. Thank you guys. If I have it wrong still please let me know, no less.
Thanks.

Tabs should be horizontal, flow with the bumper with no bends.
Just look at the rear, they should be the same.

I hope you find the front plate was worth the effort and expense. I put one on my 67 along with the little bumper guards. Later decided these cars look better without all that clutter.

lolol, ok I'm starting to give up soon, lol I see yours look different and I'm sure yours is correct but I can't thedecide what pic is showing.(so much for Confucius' saying....A picture is worth a thousand words...) Caesar I'm lost, I see the screws on top by I can't see if that's because they are in the tabs or outside.
I see now that it's still not correct but I'm much happier with this end result, I'm just about out of hope to try anything else if you don't explain that picture to me or possibly send a cpl more different angles.
Again, thanks to EVERY, ONE !

CUDA Al
If you can send a cpl of different angles I can try again to see if I can get it in right, a if not. That's perfectly alright and I'll leave it as it is cast I can't see anything else I can do with it.
Thanks.

Al's tabs are horizontal. So the bolts that hold the bracket to the bumper they go straight up and down not front to back. That's a pic of the front bracket. Look at where the bolts go thru....ignore the license plate.

At first look I interpreted Als post as "final result should show a tag/plate on it".
Nobody wears this tag bracket minus a tag.
Then I noticed there are still no bolts through holes attaching the top of the bracket. It might work that way. It might make noise from vibration too.
The slotted openings in the bracket are not meant for the bumpers ears to pass through. They are just wide open tolerance bolt holes. The holes in bumpers ears are also bolt holes. You still need 2 nuts and bolts.

Redfish,
Ok you explained it like I see it, the ears, have a hole/slot themselves... What is supposed to go in there or what's it's purpose ? As you also have on the bracket itself two more holes but really more like oblong slots, on the top and two holes on the bottom to screw into to hold the plate I guess.

What I don't understand is on the face of the bracket you have two small holes at the bottom of it (when you are looking at the car from 5 feet away...at the windshield etc) I was thinking you will bolt the plate there, but what about the top 2 bolts and nuts you need to put in to hold the plate, better, (cause I think the bottom 2 can hold a plate on itself......as I originally had my front vanity plate (Rat Poison... lol)
But I'm thinking maybe somehow the plate frame itself, not the one I just installed, but one that you buy to place the plate in and thus hold it sturdy and then you take that and connect it to the bracket.
This is where I'm lost, where would the four wholes on that frame be bolted to or thru ?
Two on the bracket's face at the bottom.....But the Top ones would bolt where ? I feel that the bolts will have screw thru going horizontal, no ?

For now I'm at a loss but I think eventually I will be able to look at it better when the weather is agreeable allowing me to lay down on the floor to look at it again.
For now I'm letting the sleep and in the spring I shall awaken it and see what can or can not be
done.
Thanks guys.

P.S. Thanks Steve for your input as well....

A pic of mine wont help much.
So the top of the bracket bolts to the bumper with 2 nuts and bolts. At the bottom of the bracket are 2 square holes where square plastic nut inserts go. Then the plate is screwed on there. At upper center is a rubber bumper for the plate to rest/bounce against. Your rear license plate is attached the very same way. If you do use the aftermarket plate frame ( I also have those at front and rear plates ) you will probably will need to drill more holes to bolt that frame on. The 2 little plastic nut inserts alone at bottom will not support the aftermarket frames long term. My from frame has a nut and bolt in upper center where the rubber bumper was removed. Yes I had to drill a hole in my frames backplate for this bolt.

The bracket has two bolt sized slots, these line up with the two holes in the bumper.
With the bracket on top of the bumper ears bolts are put through these holding it together.
The slots in the bracket are for adjustment allowing the bracket to be squared up in the car.

Heres pics of an old bracket I had, but have since sold.
Top 2 holes in the license plate itself arent used(i think), there are plastic nutserts st the bottom that are used to mount plate to bracket only. Any cuda pics I've seen only use bottom 2 holes to mount the plate?

I would agree with some previous post about clutter and such. I put mine back on to fasten the Mopar 69 plate. Does not seem to help cause we still get asked all the time what year is it!
