Who's got Flaming River columns?

Got at the tilt flaming river steering column for my 67 Barracuda. Used the mounts that they sell, hung the dash in, put a seat in and got a 13-3/4" steering wheel.
It looks to me like the stock steering column might sit up a bit higher than this does. With the column tilted all the way up I have enough leg room to lift my leg to push the clutch and brake in (with the seat all the way back, I'm 5'10"). I figured the tilt column would give me more room to adjust. When its straight its too low and my leg hits the steering wheel to get my foot on the clutch.
Anyone else had this issue? Looks like this in the only mounting bracket available.
