So finally after 35 years of welding with this reliable unit, I finally bought a proper HF cart. Pretty happy with it and the price with the holiday sale.

a little word of advice.

Get a small light ratchet strap and strap it to the cart.

Either a C-60 bottle about 40" tall or go really big with a T-300 (the number corresponds to the CF of gas.
Even in my welding shop a T-300 will last 1/2 year of 75/25 mix mig welding.

I upgraded the starter bottle on mine to the next size up (which is 4-5x larger) for $20 and the difference to fill was only $5!

I got the Q size (80 cu ft) for my 110v MIG, big enough to last awhile and not upset the cart.

For my 220v TIG I got the T size (330 cu ft) since the machine is on a bench and I don't move it around.

i think they confiscate big bottles when you take them in to refill now dont they? some kind of 911 make go bang things out of them excuse

i have the same welder. i bought the harbour freight one with the drawers in it

I have a real similar cart that came with my little Craftsman welder. I like it.

I've had the same cart for years. The only thing I had to do was to put a piece of plywood below the welder so that I could open it up to change the wire.

I've got a Brettford library media cart for mine. The kind they used to set TVs on before they came up with the anti-tip ones that are clumsily wide at the bottom. I believe they are 18x24 and have three shelves. One of these days I'm gonna cut a hole so the bottle can sit on the second shelf and use the top shelf as a guide.

It was $5 at a gov't surplus sale. Very high quality and a great size.

I actually have half a dozen of those. I have two 28" tool boxes stacked on one, my sand blast cabinet on another, one is currently used as a work stand for a hood, and I have a few more for general purpose use.

The come in three heights, with one the exact same as my tailgate when it's down.
Turn unloading heavy thins (like a welder) from lifting and stooping into just a slight lift and a turn, possibly even just a slide.

I'd like a "real" welding cart, but even at $35 on sale with the coupon, I can't come of the $5 Brettford.

...and I'm pretty sure any bottle with a sufficient charge becomes an instant missile if you knock the valve assembly off.

I bought a 300 cf bottle off CL cheap and strapped it to the wall and connected it with an air hose to the same setup as the OP has. I didn’t realize how big the bottle was till I drove a ways to get it, but it has worked out fine. Maybe a lifetime supply for me.....

thats what i thought. doesnt matter what size bottle it is. but a buddy of mine took his bottle for a refill and the supply co. confiscated his large bottle. he called the cops and they let them take it. so he was sol and had to buy a smaller bottle after they stole his original one.

I haven't had any problems. The only thing my supplier is 100% firm on is nothing leaves their property unless it's secured in the back of a truck. No SUVs, no vans, no bungee cords. Pick up truck and ratchet straps. I happen to agree with them.

Did they keep it because of damage? If its an owner bottle they should swap it, regadless. Maybe he got hold of a lease bottle by mistake? I always double check when I swap, that I get an owner bottle!

Hey Rustyfish, I have the same welder, where do you find the brass tips for the welding wire feed cable? I am down to my last one. And who made the welding cart? Did you say who? Thanks

im not sure. maybe it is a tennessee thing. all i know is he told me the story 5000 times at breaktime over 10 years. he told the same story every time. so i believed him

If you are not on record as having a lease agreement they will confiscate bottle because so many get stolen

I have a one piece cart from Northern Tool. Powder coated. It was under $100 too. I didn't like the carts that you had to assemble. Too much wobble.

If only there was a way to make pieces of metal stick together and not be wobbly.......
HHHHHMMMMM...........
WAIT! I KNOW!
Maybe we could WELD it together? NAW. That would never work.................

I built my own cart. That's how I learned to weld...still not too good at it. But before that, I had never even taken a shot at it. I put it all together with a bunch of scrap metal I had and a few pieces from TSC. Works great.
