Who's got Flaming River columns?

I bought the direct fit 69-down b-body, it dropped right in with the factory clamp. Just had to cut the D shaft to length. It must a have took 6 emails to their tech support to drag out a drawing of the B-body column and you have to have their bottom floor plate.

I know that doesn't help you now, but a guy I spoke too with one said he flipped the bracket you have and used spacers. Looking at it installed I'd try that without the U shaped clamp and some spacers to snug it against the factory top. Maybe put a thin piece of rubber up top to isolate it?
