New purchase 68 Formula S

Just picked up a 68 Formula S, pretty interesting car. It is all original with 999 paint, anybody know how many of this color are out there?

Thats probably an Omaha Orange car. You have any documentation with it?


A district ordered a group of Barracuda and Belevedares (many RR’s) in this color for a regional promotion in Northern California.

There’s an article written by a guy that was the regional rep dept back in the day that explain these cars.

Soon dealers in other area ordered 68’s this color.

I wonder if this particular Barracuda S was Rob Roche’s dad’s car he ordered new. Was at Spring Fling a 15-20 years ago. Then when up to Washington? Or BC.
 
I have the build sheet and info back to original owner. I am technically the 2nd owner since I bought it off the Daughter of the original owner.

Also this was an ordered car.

340 or 383? Auto or manual?
Assume with the 999 paint code it's ultra-rare no matter what other options are there.

No mention of Omaha orange which is technically a 69 color. It is a CA car, I will ask what dealer it came from. I may try and make spring fling. I would like to bring it and my 69 since the 66 wont be finished before then.

The 9 under the y in the top row designates a special order car, so it very well could have been one of the batch @autoxcuda mentioned in post #4.
 
Is that some kind of destination tag? It's a special order car, for sure. Looks like it has been resprayed, though. The Roche car was all original, I believe.
 
Not a hint of respray anywhere on the car that I can see. It is not perfect just nice and waxed.
 
From what people that collect and decipher tag info, the second seems to have no special meaning. It appears randomly.

Beautiful fastback! I really like it. I had read once the small second tag was interior trim, but I got nothing to back that up.
