BB Demon and I have switched the water pump housing and radiator. The top hose now goes to passenger side and the bottom to drivers side. Does anyone know what hoses I should get?

I used Dayco# 70776 for the upper
And
Gates# 20558
Had to do a little trimming but fit well.

Couldn't help but notice the race distributor. With the tach drive. So whats at the end of the cable? I run that distributor in my 64 plymouth. It drives a Stewart Warner tach that will be mounted in the instrument cluster. Just had the tach rebuilt$$. How is yours working out?

It's SW. Works fine but it's not seeing a lot of run time these days. It came with the car trade I did in '80. (should have kept the '71 Chally) A little hard to see the signal indicators as they are behind the bracket. Over the years I tried larger electrics and the SW sat on the shelf. But they overwhelmed the dash and I got some "yuk!" comments I had to agree with, Lol.
The SW kind'a-sort'a fits...…...

hangnOut where did you get your tach rebuilt and cost if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks, Jeff

A little shop, valley tach and speedo. It cost $185.! Yeah, steep! But the guy replaced most of the guts. I had spent some time messing with it so i recognized the parts he fished out of the trash to show me. And he replaced the cables core,a different tip and the housing end. I had been using a moroso tach. Only took 3 business days. Not positive on the name but i can get you an address and all that if your interested. I have no idea what a new tach goes for, probably not much more than what i paid....

I wound up ordering the Gates 20558 and Gates 20875.

MD I am curious if you recall the trimming you did to get the lower one to work? I put it down in there today and I don’t see it working at all.

The Gates 20875 needed about 4” cut off the radiator side but fits perfectly otherwise.

It really depends on which radiator you have. Different radiators have the hose outlets located in different places.

I’ll probably put some type of plastic shield there just for a layer of protection just in case. But as it sits right now there is clearance and no sign of contact while driving. Granted I’ve only put 20 miles on it so far.

To answer your statement this is the radiator I am using...
26" Big Block Mopar Radiator

You will probably need to take the radiator to a shop and have them move the lower outlet towards the center of the car. Put the radiator in the car and test fit the hose. My guess is you'll need to move the outlet over an inch or two to get it to work.

good idea, i've zip tied a short section of rad' hose over a hose if there's possible clearance issues several times in the past. sort of a sacrificial part that can be replaced from time to time if need be.
neil.

Good idea I conveniently have this short section I cut off the upper I can open up and use if needed. I’m also going to continue to look for other lower hoses to see if I can find one with a different route.

Here is a 27 inch Cordoba radiator in my Duster. I just had the radiator shop put the lower outlet where it had to be so the hose would fit correctly. The outlet on the lower tank needs to be positioned between the oil filter and the strut rod. Unless the radiator was built for this exact application the outlet will most likely be in the wrong spot.

Thanks Andy, I’m not aware of any rad shops here that do anything like that. For that matter most of the old school rad shops around here shuttered years ago.
