1968 cuda working on dash stuff, there no defroster hoses there now and the heater box has one 2/25 hose out let and one 2 In outlet defroster vents in dash are 2.25 . some there be a y pipe of hose? and what the small hose in heater box for?

The a/c box had additional plastic 'Y' piece that changed a single square opening to 2 rounds.
Standard heat/defrost box has what you describe.
Detroit Muscle Technologies offers a defrost hose kit. Other vendors have pretty much the same kit. Not exact OEM reproduction. OEM hoses had 2 different diameter ends so drivers side of windshield would get lions share of air. The kit includes adapters to make the same single diameter hose fit all 4 places.

Factory hoses had different size ends. Almost impossible to find in any good shape. There are adapters that can be bought or manufactured to use the single size hoses sold now. I use 2 inch hoses with a short aluminum "coupler" on the heater box and adapters up at the dash vents. I believe the smaller size outlet was directed to the passenger side...but maybe that's just on the 66.

You already have things covered but here's what I did years ago...

I ordered some 2“ and 2.5” duct hose from Nostalgic Air Parts who sells hose by the foot along with their 2” to 2.5” adaptor. I attached a piece of 2.5” directly to one of the ducts in the dash. I then attached a short piece of 2.5” hose to the other duct, followed by the reducer, and then the length of 2” hose. If you look closely at the left hose above you can see it.
The nice thing is, the 2” hose fits on the heater box outlet snugly, and the 2.5” hose fits the slightly smaller outlet with enough interference that it would probably stay on by itself. A zip tie will secure it for sure.
