Its been 13 years since I was posting and researching on this forum. So long that I had to create a new user account.
I have a 1971 Dodge Demon 318, with 54k original miles. My wife's grandfather bought it new. 13 years ago I started working on it. Unfortunately someone put water in the radiator on a warm day and forgot about it. Cold winters up here split the block.
So 13 years ago, I replace the engine with a crate 318, and added a few extras: Edlebrock performer manifold, headers, Holly 650 carb, dual exhaust. I also replaced the sagging rear springs with the Mopar springs. Had the dog-dish wheels powder coated, and installed the mopar dual scoops. Never really got the engine running right, it was drivable, but needed tuning.
Just fired it up for the first time in 13 years yesterday, and hoping to get it back on the road. It won't stay running and idles like crap but at least it starts!
Looking for where to start.. Im guessing oil change, timing, carb. Engine probably only has 50-60 miles on it since it was put in.
I did have to replace the alternator, so I was wondering if the Amp Gauge bypass was necessary. Still has the factory amp gauge, and it works.
Any guidance, or advice would be appreciated.
