Hello
Now that this forum assisted and identified my just purchased 5.7 as a vvt, MDS engine. I need help with recommendations on how to build it to run on my demon with my manual trans.
This hemi engine caught fire and melted the intake, all the engine wiring, and damaged the valve covers and all the coil packs. I assume all the sensors are toast also. I bought this engine very cheap.
I originally thought I could use an msd ignition controller and coil packs to eliminate the need for an ecu.
Then use a carbureted manifold and use something like a fitech setup for fuel.
However, it seems like those components are tailored for pre 2009 engines.
It seems like scrounging all the factory pieces to get back to a good baseline could be out of budget, unless someone is upgrading the whole top of their engine and is selling the OEM setup.
Anyway, if you have ideas, opinions, experience, sources , please reply.

Patience is your friend. Scour the inter-webs. Don't be in a huge hurry to buy. I just missed out on a pair of Eagle valve covers on ebag for 65 bucks for the pair. I have seen Eagle intakes, with rails, as cheap as 150. Check ebag, craigslist, and gen 3 Facebook sites daily. I would also pull the heads, and, check lifters. Eliminate the MDS. Do a search on it. Put in a SRT 6.4 auto cam. They're like 70 bucks from Chrysler. This will turn that thing into an animal. Look into a harness front Hotwireauto.com. I have had great luck with them.

Thanks
Is there a reason for going with an automatic cam, even if going manual transmission? I will start watching for pieces
I appreciate the info

No reason other than price. Auto cam is 70, manual cam is like 250. Still cheap in the realm of VVT cams. I should note that the manual cam specs are a tick more agressive.

The auto cam is still a mds cam.... thats why its so cheap
U want the 6.4 srt manual cam, with non mds lifters... and plug 4 solenoids on top of block

get hellcat lifters, buy fhe non mds plugs to plug the vvt noids at rhe top center of the block. srt max cam, 6.4 auto/manual cam will work as well. i have a complete brand new 6.4 valve springs off my 6.4 heads that will work with those stock cams. $50.00 plus the ride is half off from anywhere else. can use your stock retainers n locks you already have.

either cam will wake a 5.7 up bigtime. stock timing set will work but get a new chain at least as well as tensioners to be safe. they are cheap.
finding a compldte harness and flashed ecu will be the tough one i would think.

And I echo the post from 408, contact Hotwire and ask for Chris. He is the owner and a great guy. Explain what you are doing and he will steer you in the right direction. PM me anytime as I am in the middle of stuffing a "non burnt" 6.1 in a 72 Demon. I have a build thread on here as well. There is a whole section on Hemi swapping and there are about a zillion guys way more knowledgeable and way ahead of me on doing what you are doing. There are some wicked bright guys and gals on here and none of them will hesitate to help you with their opinion. Reach out and they will come.

Thx for the link to the 05-08 parts.
I found a 2013 Ram truck intake with fuel rails, throttle body, and injectors at a reasonable price. Will the truck induction fit under the hood of the demon ?? Any other downsides?

Should fit. The throttle body faces upward, though. You would want to make sure you have enough room for intake/filter piping. Comes out forward a ways, too. Interference with radiator?
