The 67 Dart is headed to the body shop in about a week and I will need to replace pretty much any exterior rubber, weatherstripping, ect from trunk on once that work and paint is done..... Does anyone sell a complete replacement kit to make it easier/more economical than buying/hunting smaller kits or individual pieces?
Thanks!

When I bought mine several years ago, I had to buy the individual pieces from several different vendors. I've been saving them for when I paint my car, but have decided to go ahead and install them this winter. My paint job is waaaaaay down the road and I'm tired of the wind whistling and my window rattling (I removed the felts when I painted the interior pieces).

I would like to know also if you got an answer.

As a manufacture and vendor for these products, it is very difficult to put together a kit that works for everyone. We offer all of the components and we feel that to put together the best kit possible, that we have to mix and match parts from the various manufactures. Secondly, one customer will need only the door and roof rail but do not need a trunk seal and window felts. Customer number two needs door seals and window felts but does not need the roof rail seals. For us, it is easier to just offer the customer a listing of what is available and go from there.

Dont take this the wrong way. Are you a mfg ot supplier? Both?
I see no reason that a MFG or supplier cant do a "kit".
Not everyone buys 1 tire...some 2, some 3. Quite often buy 3, get one free.
I'm working on our 67 cuda. Needs a vent window seal. Well while I'm at it I may as well do the window felts and door rubbers. Heck know what , im gonna do both doors.
See, tere's logic to it. It's all for the same vehicle, not like 4 different vehicles with parts from bumper to gas cap.
It takes organizing on mfg or suppliers part, that's all.
Seems logical to me.

As stated above, we are a manufacture and a vendor of various weatherstripping and other restoration pieces. Taking your example above, most customers do not replace the vent window gaskets when replacing the door seals and roof rail seals even on a fairly involved restoration. So if we make a kit up with vent window gaskets included in the kit, the consumer will not purchase the kit as they do not wish to replace those pieces. The second area of concern is that manufactures will purchase from each other to offer coverage on areas that they do not manufacture. By having to purchase from a manufacture that is not able to discount to the level needed to maintain your profit margin, your not able to pass along any additional savings that people usually relate to purchasing a "Kit".

From being involved in the manufacturing and selling of various weatherstripping pieces for over 28 years, you develop a knowledge of which components work better for each particular car or year model. Depending upon the year model and body type, we make our suggestions based on parts from as many as five to seven different manufactures to give the customer what we feel to be the best parts at a reasonable price. That is the reason that if one particular manufacture makes up a kit, it will basically be just door, roof rail and trunk seals. But depending upon the extent of the restoration, a kit could include all of the inner fender seals, under the hood seals, vent window gaskets, quarter window gaskets, door end cap seals, U-Jamb seals, etc.

Hope that this helps to explain our view. I relate it to customers looking to buy interior kits. Everyone needs carpet and seat covers, but not everyone needs door panels or a head liner. Any other questions, just ask, I do not view it as being taken in the wrong context.

Unlike other brands and models where there are entire kits available, nobody in the Mopar realm does this. My GTO buddy claims that he can buy a complete interior kit for his cars for $800, seat covers and door panels included! Everything is cheaper outside of Moparland!

If I remember correctly, few made the door window seal between the front and rear glass on a hardtop. That could have changed though.

Perfect example right there Geof. Dollars to dog nuts the GTO mfg also makes Mopar. BUT with less companies offering Mopar stuff compared to brand x, there is less competition, so no "need" for a "kit".
I wont say its greed, but again dollars to dog nuts its $$ related.

Just like any part of any component, the supply and demand helps drive the price of the finished product. Just as an example, we were informed back in November 2018 that the pricing for the window felt material on one of our most popular lines would be increasing approximately 300%. This material was being supplied from a OEM vendor for the material, but for our market, the demand to keep the product available did not justify keeping the material on the shelf for this manufacture.

Can we raise our prices by 300% to cover our cost and still obtain sales, NO!!! So we have had to source another manufacture to make the material for us. As a result, material cost will be about 80% more than we were paying for it and there was a $2800 tooling charge and we will not have material until approximately June. And then you have to worry that it will be as correct or better than what you were using.

When you look at the total number of say Novas produced to Darts in 1969, that number is most probably 10 fold if not more. So that is a significant factor in the pricing scenario. The labor to do the said component is basically no different than that of the Mopar line. The materials to do the GM vs the Mopar is very slightly cheaper. But when I can sell 10 sets of Nova felts to 1 Dart set, that is going to impact pricing.

Secondly in regards to competition, many smaller vendors do not have the financial ability to make the initial buy in and maintain yearly sales volume with the large manufactures that carries the majority of the components. They will concentrate on keeping the levels good for one manufacture, but in the end they are not able to have a good enough pricing structure with the other manufacture so as to offer a complete kit.

Look at Steele Rubber, they have very little product sold through Classic, Year One or the other smaller vendors. They pretty much maintain an exclusive on their product line. They manufacture a very good product that will typically be 2 to 2.5 more expensive than say a Metro roof rail seal. To be a part of their dealer network is difficult and few of us are part of it.

Hopefully this gives you some insight into the industry.

Has the master kit been found? I'm finding it hard to find the felt or window/door/trunk seals for my 64 Dodge Dart.

All of these parts are readily available. We stock all of the pieces, but do not list them as a kit as one person will need only door seals, the next person will want door seals and window felts, the next guy will only want the window felts and glass channel run kit and then there is the guy who is needing every seal that is available for his car. Just too many variables to impact the selection process.

I tore my car completely apart and had it dipped. I need everything. Plug kit. Gasket kit, entire weatherstripping kit, window felts, rubber bumps for inside fender for hood, everything. Complete restoration. I can't be the 1st guy to do this? Why not make a complete master kit for a restoration like I'm doing? 1 shipping cost rather than 20.

I`m doing a complete restoration on a 71 Duster and will need "every" piece of weatherstripping, body plugs, door handle and locks gaskets, mirror, tail lights gaskets, marker light gaskets, filler neck gasket ect, also. Sure would be nice to click on one part # from a merchant and have it all delivered in one shot. It doesn`t seem like it would be that hard to be able to assemble a master exterior kit for all the exterior rubber, plugs and gaskets. I don`t even care if it isn`t at a better price than buying the individual pieces, just put them all under one part number and i`ll buy it!
