I have a 741 case 2.76 open chunk sitting around in my garage. Removed it from my cuda a few months ago. Getting tired of walking around it. It has some wear on it noted by the clunk when going from forward to reverse, but ran quiet. It has a 7290 yoke that I swapped from the one I bought, as mine had the 7260 driveshaft. Does this or any part of it have any value or should I just pitch it. I assume shipping would be a lot.

I could only get 75/100$ for the last 2 i sold. I still have 2 that i cant sell.

Someone out there would probably want it just to be able to swap over to highway gears on occasion... lower gear sets from the aftermarket are now available for the 741 from Dr. Diff, I imagine with as crazy as everything else is in the world of 8-3/4 axles that you could probably sell it for the same price as what it would take to ship it, if you just wanted to get it out of your way... Being something of a hoarder, I can't stand the thought of throwing anything usable away.

Shipping is easy and affordable. They ship easy in a 5 gallon plastic bucket. Tape it in real good with some cardboard on top and let it rip. The ones I've shipped usually ship for around 75 bucks.

I certainly wouldn't pitch it. The last one I bought I think it was 75 bucks and that was with factory 3:23's.

Probably around 75 average on shipping, packaged in a 5 or 6 gallon bucket.

The low gear and open carrier obviously kill the value. I scored a 3:23 Sure grip from a friend for a $100 bill.

Dang. I wish I could score one of them $70-100 chunks! Been keeping an eye out for a reasonably priced 742 chunk, but have had zero luck around here. Apparently 742 are made out of gold LOL.

I got a couple friends that scour the junkyards and find Sure Grips in pick up rears. In fact Russell found one in a old converted pick up box trailer. He had to swap out the SG for a open and fill it with fluid so the owner could still use the trailer. Free!

I've sold a 2.94 open for $50 just to get rid of it. The shipping was more than the pumpkin!

PM me - I've got another 2.94 open

Hey guys. talk behind the scenes. This thread is a how much is it worth thread and not a sale or wanted thread. Thanks.
