Haveing trouble with my upper ball joint bumper

Hi I am putting a new upper ball joint bumper on but it dose not want to go on all the way
Because it is new , any ideas .

Can you maybe get a picture? I don't understand what you're talking about. Ball joint boot, maybe?

There are a couple of different types. One type presses on around the perimeter of the ball joint body. I always use a socket the same diameter as the outer ring of the boot to press those on. Lubricate the outside of the ball joint so the boot will slip on and not tear put the boot over the joint. Place the socket over the boot and tap it on with the palm of your hand. Every now and then, I get one that needs a tap with a hammer, but not often.

The second type of boot is more like the OEM original boot. They simply just "lay down" over the ball joint and don;t press on or seal or anything. They got the job done, because I've torn down lots of front ends that still had good ball joints.
