68' Dodge Dart LL-1 Clive

-
Hey Alex,

This find is pristine compared to anything left outside / rust buckets in my area.....and it is 68 DART. IMO , one of the most desirable A bodies out there. Whats a couple of quarter panels to have a clean 68 Dart??? Once that rusty stuff is gone the rest of the body should clean up nice.

Is Marshall also a movie guy / star?....I swear I have seen him on the big screen. I think with Will Farrell

Denny, I totally agree. All the rusty metal will either be replaced or wire wheeled and "Corosealed". Not skeered at all, kinda of excited to get it all welded back with the new metal.

Not sure about Marshall, ....I think he is a glass guy, yup...glass guy.

Little more cutting, little more chiseling....little more bleeding! Almost have the drivers side outer wheel tub almost all removed. I will win!

Subscribed. 68 Dart one of my favorites.
Are you scrapping the 270 side moulding like most or keeping it?
...i 'kinda like it!

Rotisserie arrived today, it was a little slow at work...so I had time to put it together. Getting the car on the Rotisserie is a whole 'nother story. I will save that for another day.

Drivers side rear glass out, mechanism out. Really not so bad in here! I left about 1" to 1 .5" of the original quarter panel return into the jamb. Learned my lesson from the Duster quarter panel replacement. Don't mess with Ma Mopar's return into the jamb, leave it, attach to it....it is where it is supposed to be!

Cool project...wish my quarters looked as good as the ones you're replacing. I'll be watching.

Thanks Tx! Honestly the original quarters had rot through holes in numerous places. My first mission is getting rid of all the rot and rust.

I totally dig it as I loathe rust...you should take a closer look at some of the pics of my basket case...the quarters are rotted everywhere a seam or joint exists...moparmat2000 helped me out pulling some from a '71 in much better shape-not perfect-but for $130 I got two mostly straight and almost completely rust free quarters, a dutchman, and a trunklid...now I just gotta source a trunk floor, drop offs, and probably outer wheel house on the right side...and some other patchwork forward of the trunk floor.

In any case, the more threads I study with metal replacement, the better armed I feel for actually doing the work myself, or with the help of a friend, so whatever detail you put up, I'm likely to be lurking lol

Planing planing planing! With both full AMD quarter panels ordered (they are backordered currently, due to ship in the first week in Feb. direct from AMD). I am going to re-arrange the HaloLifts shop where the Dart and the Duster currently are. The Duster 408 needs reassembling which I will do in the next week. Get it back in the car and take the Duster home.

Then I'll go at removing the Darts bumpers, trans, drive line (engine is already gone),
8 3/4 rear end, front K, and get everything else removed from the engine bay.

Order a Rotesserie from Derek Weaver: Weaver® W-Rotisserie Auto Rotisserie
I likethe Weaver rotisserie

I also agree with arming myself for future metalwork Txstang84 knows what i will be up against with sonnys 69 notchie as well. Time consuming, but very satisfying when you get all the pieces stitched up and shes solid again.

Copying Clint’s dart but in turquoise is gonna make for a SUPER nice car!!

And I’m gonna be in the same boat as txstang and Matt. I bought back my first car (75 Scamp) back in January and it’s gonna need a lot of rust repair. So like them, I look forward to watching your progress for tips and inspiration! :D

Sonnys car would have only needed quarter skins, dutchman, and valance, but a prev owner back in the 80s hacked the **** out of it with a sawsall and installed aluminum wheel tubs with pop rivets and silicone. My job is going to be reversing that mess with factory steel.
