Just go a Stewart components high flow thermostat and thought I’d compare it to the high flow Milodon that I just took out. Quite a difference between them. Both 180 temperature
Stewart opened twice as much and in half the time. Stewart is the silver one.
Thanks to yellow rose he was the first one I ever heard mention them.

Sometimes you're limited what to buy by what's available. I've always had good luck with the hi po Mr. Gasket til they decided to cheapen them and have China make them. I had one new Mr. Gasket wouldn't heat up and when I removed it the inner part was cocked preventing from closing. The second new one I checked in a pot of water before installing it and it never opened. I went to a few auto stores and they all had was Mr. gasket. I went to a speed shop and bought an edelbrock thermostat and so far so good. All stats were 180*.

@dgibby,

I'm trying to resolve a cooling problem on my Dart and was closely reviewing your pictures and I think you might have the thermostats identified backwards.

I have both thermostats and my Milodon 180 degree is silver and my Stewart Components is brass and has the telltale Stewart modified 3/16 holes drilled in the poppet valve. You can just barely see the drilled hole in the poppet in your second picture on the brass thermostat you've identified as the Milodon.

Would you please recheck the thermostats?

The cooling system in my big block duster is as follows. Stroker 383 = 426 with 10.0-1 compression 32 degrees total timing thats all it wanted. 525 hp.

$1000.00 Smiths custom 22" rad. 3" tanks 2 large rows with aluminum shroud. Dont cheap out on the rad, or you will be buying another one. Flow cooler high flow mechanical pump, Mr Gasket 180 high flow T stat 18" nylon 90 degree mechanical fan. Good anti freeze 50/50 mix with water, plus 1 bottle of redline water wetter. I can now watch the T stat open on the temp gauge, 185 opens drops to 175 this is where i operate now.

The Stewart Components thermostats are by far the best. They open sooner and quicker so they are fully open at the designated temperature. Just a better part.

From what I’ve read the Stewart Component thermostats are Robertshaw modified by Stewart with 3, 3/16 holes drilled in the poppet valve.

I believe this is correct. I just don’t know if Stewart Components took over the manufacturing from Shaw or if Shaw now only sells to Stewart or what the relationship is.

So far, Stewart Components is the only place I can find them.

What is the overall diameter please? I ordered the FlowKooler high flow one listed for Mopar and it fell right into the hole in the Edelbrock Air Gap.
I forget the hole size vs housing size right now, but I think I remember I need 2-3/8 OD.

2.480”.

The Robershaw model number is 370

The Stewart one is in my vehicle and I’m sure it was the silver one. The brass one had just came out of my car and you can see that is crusty with gasket sealer. The hole that you see is from me, I modified it when I installed it.

Also if you look online the seem to come both ways. Some are brass and some are not. The ones with the holes are there “modified “ version and the one I have is not and I don’t think that they offer a modified version for the mopars.
