Recently a 1966 Barracuda followed me home & now I'm trying to put it back together. Oh, did I mention it was disassembled when I got it?
It has a lot of potential, but I'm sure it's missing some parts. It's the 273 2bbl auto with power steering and A/C - but NONE of the A/C is present AT ALL - except the Airtemp decal on the back window. I've been looking around for some pictures of what a stock 273 early A-Body (preferably a Barracuda) with A/C looks like (dash & engine compartment), so I can recognize one if I saw it somewhere. Since I'm putting it together without the A/C for now, I'd also like to see what a pure stock 273 2 bbl engine + engine compartment is supposed to look like. Here's my 'before' picture.

You will get some responses I am sure. Lots of Barracuda owners here at FABO. Your AC appears to be factory installed according to the sticker.

The basic instrument cluster is the same other than the heater only controls and bezel and the AC controls with its own bezel. I can dig my out my bezel tomorrow for a picture. Do you still have all the underdash stuff? A friend compared 65/66 The heater part to a 67 or maybe 68 or so heater unit and said they were the same. The early A AC part with the evaporator is for 65/66. The later units don’t fit. 65dartcharger restored a 65 Dart wagon with a 273 2 barrel with AC and PS and gas many photos of his restored engine compartment. A friend of mine probably gas extra hoses from the firewall to the compressor and compressor to the condenser but he is - as he said in another post - in the land of sun, sand and fun - in Afghanistan till late April or so. I can take pics of everything if needed although nothing has been installed.

This heater box (if it actually is the right one) is the ONLY A/C part I have at all. Like I said, I don't even know what it looks like....inside or outside. I'll try to find the 65dartcharger pictures. Will that be the same as a '66 Barracuda?

I’m not sure this car had factory AC.
On the dash panel (aka firewall) I don’t see the two big holes for the under-dash evaporator, these holes should be near the centerline of the car.

I agree. Could it have had a dealer/aftermarket AC system installed

I'll take a picture of the center of the firewall (around the distributor area). Since I don't know what any holes are supposed to look like, I don't know what I'm looking for (that wouldn't be the first time). :) The build sheet under "Trim 41" is marked "1" which indicates A/C w heater. That & the rear window decal lead me to believe it was factory air.

I have a '65 Barracuda Formula S, missing some A/C parts but definitely factory equipped.

My 66 had air on it before I got it and the lines came through the firewall on the right side near the pinch weld.
