Super Sci-Fi saturday night question, for those who recently got quotes, or actually bought one from Ultimate, what did you pay? Specs for said price? I was quoted two years ago $900 for a 9.5" 3800 brake/4200 flash stall, billet hub all I recall otherwise likely his base quality converter.

My 9.5" spragless converter 4000 flash with the billet hub for my small block 65 Chevy II with a Turbo 400 cost $1125 delivered. Due to running nitrous it cost a few extra dollars. Lennie's customer service was the best I found during my research. This was March 2017.

“Ultimate” is arguably the best.
A lot of people also use Frank Lupo @ Dynamic

Quality Converters aren’t cheap. But a most worthy expenditure worth the investment. And your time (& money) to fo to the top of the game players.

I agree as I replaced an 11" TCI after many years of mediocre service. Best investment/improvement on the car since I've owned it. I will never use a shelf converter again. It truly made her a street/strip car.

As far as being the best....LOL....I have an 8 inch from Lenny,,,,still in the box....was 1300 bucks with all the bells and whistles.....It is going to replace a TA 3800 Series (5000 flash) that I bought back in 1983....that has been back to the shop once to repair the hub...The Turbo Action converter is currently behind the 410 in the 71 Dart a 36 year old converter still getting done....the Tom Brady of Converters....although I prefer Joe Montana...

I called Ultimate back then, really wanted to pull the trigger, but funds being what they were I had to go with an alternative, a shelf Turbo-Action 10" tight (3500 stall) for about $530 or so. Really no complaints, it stalls on the brake in 3rd at 3200, flashes to 3500. Just thinking "what if" I'd spent the extra $400 and had that approx 3800/4200 Lenny said I'd have, I know my setup could benefit from it. If I want it now its gonna really cost me :(

Wonder if he would re do a working 3500 made by someone else !??

Probably just as good as restalling his own converters

Hmmm, wouldn't hurt to call, and he's just up the road less than an hours drive. I know the Turbo Action offered one readjustment, but it actually gives the stall its supposed to so I guess the one freebie is a no-go.

yes...he will...during our conversation he wanted to know if I wanted to send in the TA3800 to be rebuild or buy new....I think he was trying to get TA 36 year old technology...LOL>...plus one of my stocker friends send in an ATI converter for him to rework.....

cool, thanks .

I just ordered mine from Lenny. Just gotta wait 3 weeks for it, so that kinda sucks but I hear it's worth the extra cost and the wait time.

I didn't even get a price, I just gave him my CC number and it costs what it costs...

My next call will be to John at Cope racing transmissions. I mean, come on how could I not spend all my money with them, we have the same name!
