Customer brought this block in and went another direction. Left the block because he didn't want to pay for the machine work.
It will probably need sleeves as 3 cylinders did not clean up at 30 over.

Yes. There is a machined surface about 3/4" X 4" long with stamped numbers on it just above the pan rail. Passenger side. Unless it was a warranty block which I believe would be blank. Also the year will be in the casting on the side of the block.

Ok, I'm not at the shop but I'll get the VIN tomorrow and post it when I get home.

Do you think it's something you'll build for yourself? If I got one for next to nothing that would be mine! LOL

Nah, I'm not in the 340 cult. I'll keep my 360.

The owner will probably just toss it but I figured let's see if anyone is looking for it first.

Lotsa 340's go out to + 0.040 - 0.060.
Some sleeved, running 12.5/1 comp.
It's the only way I stayed #matching.

Me personally I just like to have it cuz I got it for nothing. But you're right my 360 is bored out to a stock 340 size anyways.

.
Will it clean up at .060 and still have enough wall?

Not sure if it will clean up. We did not sonic check it. After the owner said stop all work stops. No money in free work.
Casting date is 5-23-72
vin, 36132816

If a mod can edit the vin into the title that may be good?

It's a 73 block from the partial VIN posted. The 2nd digit should be a letter instead of a "6" ?

Your right now that you say that it is a G

What came with a 340 in 73?

I had no idea that they were still being used that late. I was quite surprised to see 72 on the block.

73 Dusters
73 Dart
I have 1 of each of those.
73 Road Runner
Sold mine
73 Charger
Never owned 1
73 Cuda
Owned 1 a long time a go
73 Challenger
Almost bought 1 off the show room floor but bought a 73 Road Runner instead.

Dude i would keep that you never know when you might find something to put it in. And you dont have to feed it if you don't ever use it lol. My 360 has been in storage for 16 years. Hopefully tomorrow will put an end to that!

Passed on the info that's is not an A body 340. My buddy is gonna sonic check it in the morning. If it has good walls he probably gonna keep it and do a twin turbo build on it for a shop engine.

I told him that will bolt right in my car when it's done. Hell I'll even put your sticker on my car if I get to bolt her in!
