Milodon oil pans

Add your "X" amount of quarts, run it to get the filter full, let it set then check the stick. This would be the correct amount. Now make a permanent mark on the dipstick>
ok, but how do you know how many is "X" quarts?
Could you figure how far below the pan rail the crank hangs down, then mark the pan accordingly, fill the pan(off the engine) with water or what have you, to the mark then measure how many "X" quarts that takes?
OR, maybe you could insert the dipstick and mark it directly where it is just below the crank throws. Just throwing these ideas out there, anybody have better ideas?
