This thread is for a friendly debate JohnnyDart and I have been going back and forth on recently. I have a few original alternators laying around that could get cleaned up.

Cant decide the black helps with the other black parts in there but the stock one looks good too.

I like to color match them to the engine. Nothing worse than corroding aluminum after 6 months.

That's a really nice engine bay you have there! The original just look's more at home in there.

My 1 1/2 cents. You have gone too all the trouble to get a individual cap battery keep it stock. That being said.... the black with the red looks nice. What do i know!

i was gonna say keep it stock with the painted cross over
but then with the stock alternator, you replaced the cross over with a non painted on, so tell me what cross over your using?

(if black, use the powermaster, if painted, keep it stock)

Up next: Air cleaner hose routing. :)

On my air cleaner the outlet barb turns down and towards the drivers side. If I put in the back it would require a much longer piece of hose and would probably kink

Could have been different for 69. Not sure if A/C made a difference either

That black alternator does NOT look out of place. I'm kinda stock(2 S cars made me that way)! But that black looks like it's meant to be there.

Okay. Look at the pictures at the same time. Then how distracting is it to have a black alternator. It honestly is very subtle to the eye. If you didn’t know it was supposed to be aluminum I think the opinions would be different. Either way I’m torn. I may screw around and clean up a stock unit.

I like the black one. The raw aluminum gets to lookin like dried up dawg crap. The black is nice and being powder coated, it will clean up easy.

Only thing I dont like is the painted hose.

Just looks to rattle can rebuild to me.

I have a black power master......looks great imho...lol

I cant say to much, I have a all billet aluminium one to go onto mine. Had to go bigger then factory on amps.
