Hey guys:

I always find it very rewarding to find out which dealership sold any Mopar I buy. I struck out a few times at first with no paper trails, but the last 3 cars I've bought, I had either a decal, voluminous paperwork, or both.

My '66 300 coupe came with every paper it ever had, including the information filled out in the owner's manual that it was sold new at M&M Motor Company in Byrdstown, TN....dealer # 05438. There is no record of that dealership anywhere that I can find.

Next up, I bought a '69 Dart sedan over the weekend that sat for 20 years, but is all original and has all it's paperwork. That one was sold as indicated in the picture below. It even has a "Get more with Morris Dodge" sticker across the back window!

Just wanted to share with those that find it interesting.

That is so cool and brings the hobby to another level.

I found all the paperwork laying in the bottom of the glove box in the 1978 W-150 I bought off the original owner, it even had the bill of sale for his trade in of his old Buick.
And the window sticker.
It was sold by a long gone dealership in town, but underneath all the paperwork was the second original key still attached to the dealership hey chain.

It took years to find out my 69 GTS came from Lafayette Dodge in Lafayette, IN that later became Twin City Dodge. I got a subscription to newspapers.com and found the original ad from when I bought my car on June 28, 1978! I did research with that site until I found out where Lafayette Dodge was located originally, now a feed store. I did by an old dealership in Rockford, IL that was Strandquist Plymouth and started out as a Dodge Brothers store in 1929! It was closed in the great ripoff of Chrysler dealers in 2009. Here is a picture showing the new cop cars in 1962...

Dealership -- 5438

In searching for the original owner of my car, I got the buildcard from Chrysler.

Clyde C. Netzley Chrysler/Plymouth, Naperville, Illinois.
Netzley's was located at the corner of Chicago Avenue and Washington Street.

Closed in the 80s and eventually torn down.

I somehow managed to track down and speak to Clyde's granddaughter multiple times. She was in her late 80s at the time, and allowed me to record our conversations.

Among other things, she told me the dealership had a car elevator to bring the new models up to the show room.
