Pay Pal fees hit an all time high.

I know. Freaking rediculous.
Negative on knives. Did not touch em. Got them at estate sale.

The screwy part of a USPS claim is they will not refund the cost of postage for a damaged item. They only refund postage if THEY loose it.

On another note. Everything is geared towards buyer protection. Seller is generally left unprotected and non legit buyers especially on ebay know this & milk system like a cow utter yet go unpunished.
Had recent transaction on ebay with buy it now transaction. Buyer paid promptly, i already had item packaged so paid for & printed shipping label immediaely. Mistake. Not 15 mins. later get the dreaded pm from buyer that it was her daughter with out approval not her asking for refund. Thank goodness i had not shipped which is what they wanted. Paypal shipping dispute ability vanished after i printed label so lost shipping cost & refund to buyer but at least still have my item. Will never happen again as i’ve adapted.

Your best bet is USPS flat rate shipping. On the larger things, you just have to shop around.
Even flat rate is expensive now, too! It'd be a great deal if I were shipping lead or tungsten or some such dense item ;-)

You can request a refund on the shipping, as long as you didn't take it to the post office...I've done that - takes a couplafew days to sort out

The stuff I used to sell (Diecast cars) is just not worth it anymore due to listing fees, paypal, and shipping cost.
I'm lucky to break even on lesser cars, and tired of Ebay/Paypal taking 10% of the profit on the good ones. In many cases shipping costs as much as the item, $8.35 to ship a Hot Wheels car Priority Mail is ridiculous.

I've shipped some smaller items recently for as low as $4.35.

I always do the cast calc to see if standard is cheaper than priority or flat rate.

If you are shipping books, magazines, video, etc, you can use "media mail" (formerly "book rate"). It's often $3.85. IIRC there is a technicality that might let you ship anything bundled with a book :)
