So aluminum is allowed? If the car is going to spend a significant amount of time on the track everyone eventually is faced with the same choice. All the low hanging fruit is gone, all the step ladder fruit is gone, and either you break out the extension ladder and hope the ground is soft or pull weight out of the car. 35-40 lbs is significant.

Good analogy
Well put
Yes alum allowed we just have to add 100 pounds to car weight and paint the heads.

Not really, 68 69 were X heads 894 castings, 70 - 72 J heads 915, 70 & 71 340 had 915 2.02 1.60, 71-up 360 had 915 1.88 1.60, 72 340 had 1.88 1.60, 73 340 587 heads. I have seen chats that say different but over the years I have collected and sold many sets of heads off of 340's and this is what I have seen.
Yep you're right Brian. I should have printed the whole page. LOL The 915 is a casting number that was used for
70-72 340 and 360 applications. Apparently some of the TA heads were 915 castings.

The chart in post#14 shows 68-71 894 castings

Yea I know, I have never seen a X head with a 70 or later date code only 68 69, Now maybe a very early 70 engine might have a X head and that would have a 69 date code, I have had late 69 date code J heads
So I sure it's possible.

They came with both the small and large valves (340 or HP)
personally I liked to start off with the small valve head and do my own valve job with lots of meat to work with not some worn out seat
we've filled the bumper with lead or cement then told we were cheating- us- cheating??? took two bumpers and welded them together and filled the gap and put on longer brackets
will they let you put the battery in the trunk? a big heavy battery? if you do bolt it down strong- they can tear the bolts out of a floorpan- ask me how I know
