It's disassembled and the pics are not clear so hard to tell what's what. One piston is damaged but I'm sure it needs a rebore so not a big deal. Heads look decent. What would be a fair price for the whole motor, and other option just the block. I'd either build it as a 360 or more likely a 408 stroker with aftermarket heads. Just trying to get an idea of what the block is worth, before I commit to a long drive.

I was thinking along the same lines. Thanks for the confirmation.

If it has an aluminum intake and four barrel and maybe a cam. Then it would of course be worth more.

The last 360 I got was $50 and still had the motor mounts on it. why I was there he said you want the 904 transmission too? Sure tose it in...

This may seem more than just a little trite................it's worth what you are willing to pay for it

I have gone from getting them for free, to paying $225.00 to buy back one I just sold; builder core and all I really wanted was the block

Absolutely true, but I do like to understand the market price in case I need to sell it in the future, so that I'm at least in the ball park.

I gave 10 30 packs of expired Keystone light for one a couple years ago - carb to pan core.

You should've had to pay him to take the Keystone, as well as for the engine.

.
For what the expired Keystone?

No for a disassembled 78 360. If yall are payin 300 for a torn down LA engine, somebody's seein yall comin. I can get a 5.9 Magnum all day long from LKQ in the 300 dollar range with a six month warranty. Yank the EFI off slam a carburetor on and go. Running engine. Damn 300 bucks for a torn down antique.

Luckily, the keystone was free to me, so it was essentially a free engine. Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $100-$150 for an LA 360 core. I guess it would be dependent on availability in the OP's region though.

Well, some of you prob live near the big cities where that stuff is real prevalent. Out here in the sticks not so much. Sure i can get a running magnum long block for $200 if i want to drive 3 hours to Dallas and pull it myself.

LoL, true.

Used to get sets of heads for 80.00
Motors for 150.00....10 yrs ago.

Paid 190 for a short block std.
When it comes to readily available cores... its 'almost' worthless and useless till someone puts the money into machining it to make it worth something and usable.

Cores a core.

Don't forget the electric fuel pump...

Good info here. I know the 340 blocks are pulling a premium now but really didn't know what to expect for a 360. I do have a u-pullit yard I can visit to see what they say. Anything that is already out is a bonus and I would expect to pay more.
