I know that someone has had the problem of white seats yellowing. My Pearl White seats have a yellow tint to them. I could use some help on how to get the yellow out and the white back. Can anyone tell me how they got rid of the yellow? Have read several articles and forums but no good solution except for maybe putting white upholstery out in the sun. Ideas???

Try saddle soap. It’s for leather but does impressive things with other material. Not harsh in any way so if it doesn’t work, no harm done.

What year? I know the '68 models "Pearl" white had a gold tint to it. I just dealt with this on my Charger when ordering the vinyl top. I knew the '68 "Pearl White" interior had a gold tint to it, so when Legendary said my "White" top fit '68 - '69, I was concerned it would have that same gold hue to it. It did! Ended up returning it and getting the 1970 "White".

Hard to see, but here are some pictures of the '68 - '69 "Pearl White" with a white sheet of paper next to it. You can clearly see the gold tint to it. Don't know if this is what you are talking about....?

I have a 1965 Dodge Dart GT with the Pearl White. Changed it out a few years back and it was not a pure white then. Over the years it just seems to be a bit duller than when new. A slight bit of yellow has shown up and would like to freshen it up. Just thought I would ask what others have or use to clean their white upholstery with.

I am not sure the yellow can be cleaned off. Usually, yellowing is a change to the actual color pigment and if permanent. Bleach possibly?

the pearl top coat spray on the vinyl is yellowing. IF your willing to take a chance of ruining your white base, use lacquer thinner to remove the pearl topcoat (water based dye and cross linked for adhesion) there is a 50/50 chance to clear it up or mottle up the dye so bad you'll have to replace it or re-dye it. Or you could use a cross linked water based dye and redo your seats right after using the thinner to open the pores up in the vinyl. That's what we do (using a good hlvp touch up gun)when we have to color match either vinyl to leather or vice versa in the Lincoln leather seats I help build.

So, if I understand what 66Dvert is saying is that the pearl white is just a spray on type of color and there is a chance that it would be removed if I tried to any type of cleaning to get rid of the yellowing. May just wait until I need to replace the covers. Can you tell me what way is the most cost effective, re-dye or replace?

Re-dye is cheaper, but not by too much. Replace is faster (plus you can fix and soft foam and add foam if wanted.) but it's usually not as good of vinyl weight material and sewn with a cheaper cotton thread. good for a trailer queen but not so good for a daily driver. I use pledge(unscented or lemon. I like the lemon scented for the seats and unscented for vinyl tops and dash pads) on my vinyl seats so the threads get a little pledge spray on there to help keep em soft and not deteriorate so fast.

Problem is these are not the original covers. Had to replace them maybe 6-8 years ago. That might be worn out as things aren't made like they use to be. Will try to clean them so they look a little better and may have to look at replacing them in the future. Suggestions as where to buy replacements? Got these from Legendary. Thanks for your help.

I have used the vinyl spray paint from oreilly very successfully in the past. It wears like iron and works well if you are covering a similar color. You just have to get everything good and clean.
You can try it on an inconspicuous spot maybe.

Well, maybe I will try the spray paint when the time comes or if the cleaning doesn't work. Then I can decide about replacing the covers. Thanks for all the help.

I just want to say that sun exposure is likely what has (helped) caused the yellowing. I would not try sun-bleaching.

I have not tried it myself, but I have read in multiple places that the Magic Eraser laundry cleaner works well to restore upholstery finishes.
