OEM chrome valve covers for 383

You are correct. I believe the 67 VC has a bracket on top. 69 VC has tower for breather/oil fill on drivers side and PCV grommet with side wire tabs only on passenger side.

They are exactly the same short of the heater hose bracket on the right side cover for 67/68.

When I did mine two things swayed me.

I have a 69.

For one my right inner fender was not punched for the heater hose bracket as expected for the 69 model year. My car is 10/68 build which by no means is early for 69 production, but it seems the car was pulled off the line as the first coat of paint appeared to be B3 not B7. Le Hodge pointed this out when I brought him the shell for resto and mentioned it may have been pulled and moved to the back of the line. Based on this I assumed maybe it was really an earlier build than the fender tag date. Based on that I opted for the 68 covers due to lack of the fender hole. Is it right?

Who really knows, but at least the 68 covers in chrome with bracket were available at the time of resto and I chose that option.

I have seen some 69 production cars without the fender bracket and no right side VC bracket with just ties on the hoses is that right? Regardless all “383” cars had chrome covers.
