I tried to install my new Espo leaf springs tonight, but couldn't get the center pin in the spring to seat into the spring perch on my 8 3/4 axle.

It looks like the spring pin is just barely too big for the perch hole.

Can I enlarge the pin home or am I doing something wrong?

Are they Mopar Performance perches? Seems I remember something about the MP perches being made with the wrong size centering pin hole.

8 3/4 a body has a 1/2 hole . What size is the pin on the spring 5/8?
If so you need to drill it.

Yeah just drill them out. No big deal. I just remember MP makin the holes the wrong size......which sound pretty typical of them actually.

Got the springs and rear end in! Somehow I lost my shock plate nuts and washers. Are they special cupped washers or will a flat one do? I just attached them with a nut and washer I had.

Pic for attention.

Took me a bit to sort out the ramp jackstand combo. Optical illusion! Drill em out they will be fine.

That's not a very safe attention picture. I sure hope nobody tries that.

Have mine off right now, but in shop. They are nuts with hard washers attatched.edit,
Thought you were talking about soring mounts.
Cupped washer for sure. My washers and nuts are wired to the shocks.

The only thing that's "special" are the nuts. They are longer than standard nuts so that they have more thread engagement. Also don't forget final torque is only 45 LB FT.

Sounds like you got them in.

I just did mine last weekend. I had to yank the axle towards the back of the car just a hair and hold it with my leg while putting the bolt in the shackle. Both sides were the same.

Yes, I made sure to torque the u bolts to 45ft lbs. I've read that so many times it's imprinted in my brain. Lol

Been installing 8 3/4 in the 69 and what a pain....on my own and on the ground.
Found out front hangers go on leaf springs 1st...dont bolt to car 1st lol.
Now onto the rear hangers and shackles. Any specific order of install?
69 cuda 8 3/4 rear and factory springs.
Thanks
Steve

Last year i had diff out of my 65 so many times i think i could do it with my eyes closed. I removed brackets from car, with all the eye bolts loose. Then snug it up once its all back in, wheels on and settled down on suspension. Dont want to tighten eye bolts while its all hanging.

I took some right sized washers , and used a ball peen on a couple of them to dish them to match the stock ones -
Lay the washers on a soft board ''cedar'', and put a ball peen on the washer and strike it w/ another hammer .
