A12's were supposed to be the fastest on paper, being a few lbs lighter.... :) but no one will ever know. one SR claimed to fly 3.3 in a pilot authored book. One flew over Libya and had to leave in a 'hurry' and the pilot claimed to see mach numbers he wasn't supposed to possibly see. Fantastic airframe.
 
It’s no wonder the young folks who were ground crew are hard of hearing now. That’s a lot of noise and hearing protection wasn’t popular back then.
 
Wasn't that the predecessor of the stealth bombers in the 80s? Forgive my ignorance if im wrong im not a plane guy.
 
The rudderless B2 has about 6 computers flying it. I cant imagine the skill and training it took to fly the small ruddered XB35.
