My son is making a fixture for the mill out of scrap steel. Very expensive to buy. It is for engine rebuilding . Can you guess what is going to be for? He is about half way done. I'll keep updating.

Has it got something to do with the cam bearing tunnel of an engine block?

Passage drilling for either 4 bolt mains or nothing. That’s my answer and I’m sticking to it.

Fixture to hold pistons in milling machine so they can be milled or valve pockets flycut, very impressive work! Those look like piston pins in the heim bearings, so that's my guess...

No. The diameter of the pin you are looking at is 1 3/4" The reason I know that is I just got two 1 3/4 Fenner locks in the mail.

That pin that is through at an angle is just a test to see the angle travel for interference. He is setting it up to use on the 58 inch mill table it is on. But he will need a 8 x 18 inch riser for the head to increase table to spindle hieght.

He bought this rotating 24 " table to make a riser for the series II. he is ordering a piece of 18" diameter x 2" wall seamless cold roll pipe to make the spacer. The table is setting on the craftsman tool box. That table has to weigh every bit of 400 lbs

Oh yeah the ugly lumber jack in the picture is Jim. A friend that we depend on to keep the roofs from leaking. Does anyone know where I can get a cheap tarp ?

No. The pin is 1 3/4 Dia. that is sticking through the bearing. They are adjustable up and down and lock at that height with the handles. This is being made super heavy duty to use on any size motor including All size diesels.

That rotary table looks like mine but mine is 12" and weighs about 250 lbs, I dread putting it up on the mill its a back buster for sure.

Gonna go out on a limb and point out my guess hasn't been shot down yet... until 1..2..3.. :)

But in all seriousness, I really admire seeing work like this. Abom79’s work on YouTube fascinates me to no end...

its a left handed, moss covered condensel with the moss removed and he is converting it so a right handed person can use it, but by code ,once converted ,he has to put the moss back on, and use purple dye, because OSHA has a rule, the left handed one can be green, but right handed ones must be purple !

Fixturing up the mill to run a boring bar to positively locate cylinders?

He's buildin a REAL high end whiskey still.
