Long story short, I went to the MD yesterday for diverticulitis and she is pretty thorough. She found a whistling noise in my heart. The Cardiologist today said probably a heart valve.
Aparently I need my valves ground with some new stem seals. LOL Anyone else have the same thing?

It’s a simple procedure.

They remove your heart, send it to the machine shop and have it reworked.

You should get it back in 2 to 3 weeks with a 90 day warranty.

Just be sure to replace your blood and filter after the break-in period.

Friend of mine dropped a valve in his 20s. The technology at the time was a Pig valve, which served well for 7 or 8 yrs. Next was a mechanical valve. That one has been clickin' away in there for 20 years+.

Hope it checks out good for you, I had the complete work up a couple years ago, heart cath, ecocardiogram and lots of ekg's. After they got my blood pressure under control it went away but I still have palpitations from time to time.

I just listened to it with my stethoscope. It's a rhythmic whistling noise.

Neighbors new heart valve was from a cow. He said it had serial numbers. I’d have it flow tested.

The doctor's told me that real high blood pressure can cause a valve to leak. My heart is enlarged from years of high blood pressure but they said it should go back to normal if I keep my blood pressure under control.

Sounds like it may be an aortic valve. The docs will figure out if it needs just a repair or a replacement. Sometimes, they just wait and monitor it before deciding if it needs work done.

I would consider every alternative treatment first. My brother had a bovine valve put in to replace the aorta valve. He had stenosis which is a narrowing of the passage. His health went down from there, and he only lasted a couple years. Seems the chances for a staph infection go up a lot with valve replacement. He had other probs too, but the staph settled on the valve and that's what did it. Check the connection between valve replacement and increased chance of staph infection. It's higher than you might think. Which valve is it? I think there are 4? Maybe try an aerobic exercise routine such as walking or swimming. That should help. Good luck!

I will have tests done Thursday

I still have palpitations and get a little pain with them. I take lisinopril and carvedilol now.

I have a friend waiting for heart work. He needs to get a valve tuned up. They are going to do laposcopy so I don't think they will open him up completely. He had to quit smoking , drinking etc to get in good shape before he could be worked on though. But they say he will have less chance of infection this way. He is waiting for the call that will just come one day and he will be in.

TMM for “MVP” :usflag::usflag::usflag:

Mitral Valve Prolapse. Many live with this condition with no issues. When it becomes worse and you develop severe regurge your heart can begin to suffer. Many ways to fix the problem.

If it’s the Aortic valve, some minimally invasive procedures exist. TAVR. I’m mostly involved in the aortic aneurysms repairs at my hospital.

Good luck and hopefully they can tune you up.

My good friend Mike (65 Dart GT Convertible, /6 factory, 4 speed) Had a valve replaced a year ago. He is doing fine now. He had the whole cracked open chest procedure, but if you are a candidate for it, they can do it with small incisions. The only bad part is that the valve (bovine??) is only good for 10-12 years. My prayers go out to you. I will get you in touch with my friend if you want.
