I guess if it is a 4 speed and there is no play in the throw out bearing it would keep pressure on the thrust bearing ?
 
Could be anything on the metal issue...…
As for the gray stuff. I would guess "Assembly Lube" rite off the top.
The Low Oil Pressure bothers me the most.
Myself, I would pull it for inspection and looking for the issues..

This one will come dyno tested with a 30 month warranty, so i think it'll be between your frame rails alot longer that that last one! :)
