Any recommendations on a good shop vac that’s not so ear piercing noisy. Even with hearing protection my Genie will give you a headache.

My Sears shop vac was a real workhorse and great suction but sounded like a 747, when it finally died I bought the stainless version of Home Depot’s Ridgid shop vac. Very happy with it has just as much suction and half the noise plus a lifetime warranty. Liked it so much I bought a second one, one for in the garage and one for where I do some woodwork, admittedly I’m too lazy to drag one back and forth

I like the Ridgid one I have. It is rectangular , so it’s easy to put away on a shelf, and it travels well. I loved it when I was doing service calls. It didn’t roll all around the van, & I could stack it on a hand truck with tool boxes and/or other equipment.
I triple filter it with a pleated filter, a regular paper disc over that, and then use a filter bag. Really keeps the dust down. I used to vac drywall dust in peoples houses without creating a bigger mess.
I’m not sure if they still make it though.

That's kinda cool!

Whatever you do do NOT buy a current generation plastic fantastic "Shop Vac" brand junker. On mine, came from HD or Lowe's, don't remember, the top won't stay latched on, and the power switch worked THREE TIMES. That's right. I turned it on, off, and on again, and THE SWITCH FAILED JUNK!!!

Was that the Homer bucket special form Home Depot?

I've got a wall mounted shop vacuumcleaner. Old beast, don't recall the name at the moment.
It's about the size of R2D2 and makes noise like there's a fighterjet powerbraking right before a fullblast take-off, about 10 feet away.

Turn it on and if you don't walk away quickly I'm sure there will be blood coming from your ears very quickly.

'Best' of all still.... it sucks big time...!

Big Block, did you buy that from craigslist a few years back?
