1972 Duster Build with my Daughter

-
So my trip to get the rest of my parts yesterday included a score of another AC head. The faceplate was wiped out but it had good knobs and after a vinegar and Red Devil lye dip the AC switch works perfectly.... Now to see how the NOS order goes. I had one good experience with Brad's NOS Parts in NC in the past. This time not so much.... 9 days and not a single word on the status of the order and no reply to emails. Phone immediately goes to busy all day long.... I would actually like to cancel it now... we will see.....

While I had the chemical out I dipped, polished and lubed the Map Light switch. It works perfectly now.

All that is left to do is figure out where I want to do the splicing of the '73 AC harness into the main harness and fix the original '72 Map Light Harness (someone had cut the connector to the switch off but I can steal it from the '73 Map Light Harness), no the '72 and '73 Map Light harnesses are different so I can't just use the '73. Also I need to graft in the AC control illumination light into to the '72 harness somewhere... Need to figure it out so it dims with the rest of the dash light.

Not much else is going to get done this week so till Saturday...

Another $500+ order to Classic Industries.... They need to send us a Christmas card for the rest of our lives....... This should be about it though! I can't think of a large list of anything thing else to buy! The only other large $$$$ purchase lingering is the Accurate Exhaust system and rechroming the bumpers.... Should I paint them Black for now or just suck it up buttercup and rechrome them now? I need to get them in ASAP to ensure they are done by mid May....

Brads finally replied. The switch is coming from another warehouse...... code for looking for one on eBay cheaper than you sold it to me for?

On Silicon Valley Road and 101 for 3 nights. Anything Mopar to do in the evenings this week?

Maybe. They wanted $350 each for the Coronet. About the price of the AMD I think

Not getting much done. On work travel most of last week and flew home to this Friday night.. Had to leave the car a mile away and walk home in this record 14" snow......

Found a place that sells AMD bumpers by the pair with free shipping. Can't re-chrome for that price. Ordered.

No photos but I braved the cold and snow and spent a few hours in the garage. I mocked up the vinyl top trim and have it all masked off for spraying glue. Sanded and cleaned the roof. Next weekend is Vinyl top time. Once that is done the interior is ready to assemble. Baca called Friday and the seats are ready to pickup! The latest Classic order was delayed due to the snow storm so it should be here Monday. Also the AC box to cowl seal should be here Monday so things are coming together slowly.

You would be doing me a great favor if you detailed the vinyl top install like you have so much of this build. I am considering doing one myself.....

Thanks Jim,
JW

Will do. I have done the Coronet twice. First rule is DO NOT USE 3M SPRAY CANS....... Order a Gallon of Weldwood Landau Top adhesive

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004IH3HAQ/?tag=joeychgo-20

and buy a cheap harbor freight spray gun....
64 oz. Professional Air Spray Gun Kit
with some plastic liners to keep the can clean.
