Can anyone here confirm if the spokes had a light brushed grain on the spokes originally or if they were just a straight satin chrome finish. I am restoring one with a black plastic rim for my Valiant and just finished bead blasting the spokes because of minor pitting. Trying to make it look very close to the original finish.
Thanks

Thank you Bryan! Did you restore yours yourself or have it done. I'm also wondering how to get the grain look back in the plastic on the rim. I bought a wood grain wheel awhile back that I decided not to use on my car because my interior is all black. It has a light brushed grain in the spokes and looks like the wheel could be NOS, I say that because the grain on the rim is in as new condition. Not sure if I have ever noticed it on another rim.

That looks awesome qkcuda ! It's hard to see if there's any grain in it in the photo, You can definitely see it on the inside metal ring on the wheel. Thanks for sharing!

I was able to clean up spokes w/o changing finish. On the wheel I used JB weld to fill in cracks and put leather wrap on it. I am going to do the same for my 1967 wood grain wheel as the spokes are like new but the plastic wheel is terrible. I will fill in bad areas with epoxy and use silicone/leather wrap This is chrome on spoke and riveted pieces are chrome but looked maybe brushed.
This one I used epoxy for plastics Many U-tube videos on steering wheel repair Good luck!

Thanks again Bryan! I bought some POR 15 to fill the cracks, Replicating that grain on the plastic will likely be next to impossible..

What I was saying those plastic wheels wear smooth, guys hat restored them 20 years ago used a hacksaw blade to out the grain back on. I have done it years ago and I forget what I used to finish it with.
