Probably a dumb guestion but here it goes anyways. What is the easiest way to check to see if the rear end has a sure grip without removing the center section. Not interested in smart a$$ answers if i knew for sure i wouldn't ask. Thanks in advance

Jack both wheels off the ground and put it in neutral. Rotate a wheel by hand, the other should spin the same direction.

That will work for spools too though, so it will not automatically tell you it has a Sure-Grip unit.

Thank you i was thinking that way but wanted to be sure. The rear ends are out of the car so it should be easy enough. Thanks again

Or worse, A poor mans spool, welded spider gears in a open differential. Since the rear is out, I would suggest pulling the third member out to inspect it and what type of SG it is.

Thanks for all the feedback on this. The rear ends 2 of them are among numerous parts that are for sale as a package. Just needed some info to help me assess the value.

Agree! Also, if you are going to sell it, removing the center section will also help you identify the gear ratio which I'm sure most potential buyers would want to know.
