Geez.....kicked my butt....hardest 2 days in a long LONG time!
Only moved 6 blocks.....I have a LOT of stuff.....
I'm so sore I can hardly move!

Ok.....Rant over.....

Jeff

I'm gonna pay some guys next time. ..don't care what it costs...I'm too old for this anymore!

Jeff

after 20+ years in the military, I have it down to a science..

but then again, this life prevents you from really accumulating too much..

Never again for me....I might pack the boxes but I ain't moving them, not to mention the furniture. They now have crews that come in and shrink wrap everything in blankets and plastic and get it out the door pretty darn fast.

I feel ur pain. I have moved a few times. It is a very happy/stressfull time. I ended up giving a lot of parts away to friends. Kim

We moved in the summer after 25 years. Downsized the house, and upsized to a 3 car garage. We thought we got rid of a lot of stuff before we moved, but the basement and the garage is still jammed. We hired movers but it was still a ton of work. At least the cuda is happy.

2 things i spend money on last time i moved
1: a dumpster, parked right in my yard to throw everything in i didnt need anymore (and even more stuff i decided the wife didnt need anymore)
2: a couple of guys with a truck who did ALL the heavy lifting for me

We've moved long distance and local, and the 6 block move (our last move) was as hard or harder as the two longer ones before it!

Dam Jeff... I'm with you... Hate Moving.... I think we helped you a few times back in the day?.... Take it easy Broth'a..

Last time we moved was the last time. 15 pickup truck loads.
5 for the house,10 for the garage /yard.
Think that was the 8th or 10th time.

We’re thinking of a long distance move, still a couple years down the road. We’re not really sure how we are going to do it. We’ve been in the same house for 26 years, and the thought of trying to pack it all up and move 1200 miles is daunting. I just turned 59 and wifey is 66. I’m sure we’ll hire a moving company for most of it, but then we have our two daily drivers, and the Dart, and a camper, and possibly a boat unless I can sell it before hand.

Sheesh... I just cleared out a storage today and won't miss the monthly bill on that one. I feel you on the moving sucks theme!

Big thanks to @hosehead for coming out to help me move my "stuff" Always an adventure.

ill probably be moving soon since I’m getting a house within the next 45 days. In the process now and I gotta a lot of ****, cars furniture, parts, and what knot... it’s gonna be fun!!!

To everyone who is moving; please consider this hint. One of the worst things you can do, in my opinion, is grab a bunch of free boxes of different sizes here and there. In the long run they are free, but since they are all different sizes, they won't stack well at all. If you go to Lowes or Home depot and buy a bunch of medium and large boxes, they will all stack together beautifully. You will spend less time in the long run since they will be easier to move on a dolly, and stack so well. Trust me, the cost is well worth it.

The military has been moving our stuff for almost 20yrs now. I can’t complain except for the occasional “missing” stuff.

But we recently DIY moved to a bigger house close by to move the MIL in with us. After renovating her house and dealing with her hoard (level 4 hoarder), then moving her stuff and our family’s stuff.....I agree with MrJLR. Never again!

And isn't it strange how much of the kid's "stuff" doesn't go with when the kids leave.

We are moving an hour away from the city this summer. Started packing all the non essentials in the house the day after Christmas. In 3 weeks, the garage clean out begins, followed by the shed. Once I go thru it all, I'm having a cheap mopar garage sale. Stay tuned......

We only moved once, from the apartment to the ranch. 20 + years in the Corps, the wife stayed on the ranch with our sons. We are going to live here until......
