F.I. Tech or Holley sniper. Opinions from users.

I've decided to replace my carb with one of these systems and have started researching them. Figured I'd get some input from anyone running one on here. Just curious what makes one better than the other. Its going on the streeter 372 in my 68 vert. Not interested in running an in tank pump. Thanks.
 
I’m running the FiTech 600 w/timing control and an in-tank pump. I only have 60 miles on it, and absolutely 0 issues so far.
 
Thanks. Does the timing control require a special distributor?
Yes, I used a MSD pro billet. @Johnny Mac at Blue Print has experience with both I believe. When he was with Pace he set me up and gave me some great info. There are a couple groups on FB and some great threads here you can check out before you pull the trigger on anything.
 
I have had a problem with my F.I. on my car and the short coming was I didn't know what was wrong. I had to have the car flat bedded home and next day when it was cold started right up. Again when hot no start. This is the problem I see with this Technology, not being able to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it. I put carbs back on to remedy the problem. Sent the units back, dual throttle bodies on a gen 2 hemi, and ECU was bad and replaced under warranty. I'm waiting for warmer weather to put them back on and see how it runs. Before this problem, no start when hot, car ran fine for 2 years.
 
Holley Sniper with in tank pump no timing control as yet msd 6 AL box letting it learn first. Have only had it on for about 3 weeks has been running really well have put on 460 km so far and every time I drive it it keeps getting better. I've read the Holley forums and the bulk of issues are with setting up people jumping from carburettor to these and not quite understanding . Really important to read instructions a few times to get a grasp and run distributor and coil wires away from everything else due to RF issues. Run decent leads !
 
I went with the FITech 600pa. I was on the fence until I found FITech used local for a great price. I have found more info/advice on the FITech than the Holley. Lots of FITech users on here. I have had great results far.

I’ve run the Sniper for almost 2000 miles and it’s been great once I got the install right. Minor issues from my own install error. Like someone said, read the instructions. Also never liked my external pump. Noisy, hard to mount if you follow the install guidelines, have to modify the tank for the return and no baffling so you’ll suck air when cornering when the tank gets low.

Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 EF.

id kill if they made this setup for the small block. that would be sa weet. they only have this for big block unfortunately.

i was talking about one that looks like the pic above. i knew they had the throttle body one. its cool but dang the big block one looks sexy. it would look awesome with the wrinkle mopar performance black valve covers

Something to think about down the track. Looks promising at this stage as I will wait and see when a few people are using them and if any issues come up.

Has anyone seen a comparison of the ProFlow 4 port injection system vs the TBI types like the Sniper? I'm curious how much/what the port injection brings to the table for the additional cost. I'm thinking the current small block one. You could run the same PF4 intake and mount the Sniper on it for an apples to apples comparison. I'm going to do it down the road and I like the idea of port injection but only if there is an obvious benefit for my use.
 
I installed the FiTech 2x4 1200 PA system on my blown 340 last summer. I think it's a dream come true so far. I even went out to the garage last weekend when it was -15C and tried to start it for the first time since November. Never have to touch the gas pedal and it started on the 3rd rollover of the engine and idled perfect. Hard to beat that.

I have run a FiTech 600 for 2 seasons,,,like it ,,but a friend has a new hotrod with a Sniper system on it that Ill be working with him on. Similar systems but Ill report my preference after a bit of time..

I’m pulling the trigger on a megasquirt 2 for the duster so I will post those results. It’s gonna be hard to beat the FITech.
