I'm hoping to find a new project this spring. My budget will be pretty low, about $2000. Doesn't seem like there's much left in that price range. 64-65 Valiants maybe ? Seems like even 73-74 cars are going for more than that now.

That would be perfect but I have nothing saved. And likely twice my budget after shipping. :-(

You can still find 4 doors and wagons pretty cheap, and they can be just as much fun!

you can keep it at my place

reserve not met though

If you have nothing saved, where is the $2,000 coming from?

Along with early A's, I've seen some toad cars pretty affordable. How do you feel about those?

I have this thing I go to ever day called work. No clue what a "toad car" is.

You arent the only one. Unless its the dead one in front of my shop, towed car...i get to fix it monday..

Depends on your locality. I can get pretty decent 2 wheel drive mid eighties dodge trucks for less than $2000, with a little ingenuity, they can make fun projects.

Thats a huge part of my issue. in good old rusty CT nothing is cheap. I've even been looking at Fox body Mustangs and nearly choked when I saw people asking 7K for a steaming pile of junk.

Forget about Foxbodies. Especially Coupes if they are unmolested. They are bringing a premium.

everything brings a premium around here.
That's gonna be your biggest problem. Even 4dr rust buckets are more than $2,000 in the north east. I had to wait a while to find a good deal on a 2dr 70-72 dart. I finally found a shell that had a title, and only needed minimal body work for $800. Glass, trim, and grill were all good too. Suspension, steering, brakes, engine, trans, rear, interior, fuel tank, ect...all garbage. The guys out west are probably laughing, but that's exactly what I was looking for.

How about an Omni GLH clone? Make it a "Super 60" and kick some rice ***.

Early 70's Colts with a junkyard 318 would turn some heads.

Timing, position, patience..... A few weeks ago I was first in line for a 74 duster complete with Rally wheels and definitely a workable car for 400.00 with a V8. The deals can be had but it takes times to find the right deal and then you better have the money to means to get it right then...

The market is a hot mess now and sellers and buyers have no conscience any longer or so it seems so don't think a deal you made yesterday will still work out today... In the last month I have actually made deals and started traveling to go buy things will everything done short of me paying and loading up only to get a message that it was sold...

It's rough out there and good luck....

Come on OP.... Look on FB Marketplace for a foxbody. Change your location to Washington, DC and a 100 mile radius. Some people think a foxbody is pure gold but there are plenty of them out there priced right.... Now if you want a good laugh look at the 86/87 turbo regal cars. Now that one is a joke.

And if I had to drive 12 hours one way to get a deal and solid car it's roadtrip time. Foxbody deals are out there for sure.

Not around here, I have been watching for an early valiant wagon , that I CAN AFFORD AND NOT ATE UP WITH RUST.
There is no such thing !!

Find a friend with a trailer and have an adventure...... Finding the right deal for you may mean a little thinking outside the box. Done it plenty of times for friends. Road trip lol....

I dont have any friends with truck. At least nothing that would make it out of town lol.

Guess Ill keep saving my pennies and hope my wife doesn't find something more important to spend it on. I would much rather get something I know I'll like rather than settle and hope grows on me. Preferably a 73 Dart Sport/Duster
