Who has these Pentastars?

-
I'm being nosy! Is that your collection or is these pics at a store or museum?

My stuff....I have a personal collection, have a few display cases full of stuff like this....I love it! I even try to find old display cases, one is 125+ years old with the original wavy glass...The big display cabinet needs another shelf added and more stuff put inside, I need more cabinets LOL, most of this stuff is all vintage Mopar related items, I think I have a problem LOL

That is an awesome collection. Probably way better to see in person.

Thanks! Yes, need to see it to really appreciate it, sometimes I forget what I have lol...I moved almost 2 years ago and some stuff still packed away in boxes

So Cal Edison uses 5 sided hex bolts for their vault covers. Would be cool to get a few and lop the heads off for various trim items.

You sure don't have a problem! That's one of the coolest collection's I've ever seen!

I have one of those blue air cleaner nuts floating around somewhere. was on my dart for a while but my hood started rubbing on it, so i took it off. Younger kid that Raced in OH with me had a bucket of them. He owned a few max wedge, and 80's mopar garlits replicas. Haven't talked to him in years, but he was a real mopar collector with all kinds of luck finding rare NOS stuff.

Let's find that guy and his bucket! LOL

I've had these sitting around for years. Can't say for sure if they are DC, or not.

Big massive thank you to Furyus2!!! He bestowed these beautiful pentastar valve cover hold downs and a matching air filter hold down to me at a very reasonable price in my opinion. Agreeing that instead of being forgotten on a shelf there now put in a place where people can see them and appreciate them on a regular basis let alone myself completely cherishing them! I opened the box like a school kid at Christmas and Scattered out to the garage to try a couple on! I have my carburetors off right now and I have the motor compartment taped off for a little sanding I've been doing on the body. But I still had to peel it all back for a minute and put a couple on just to see how great they're going to look! I hope my enthusiasm is coming through here!!!
also it was an extra special day as I went a couple hours West to help a friend out on his property do some work on his roof which I don't like him doing by himself alone out on lonely property. He could get hurt no one would know. Anyways he gave me this really cool jacket he got back in the 70s with a really cool socks and Martin patch. He said I could repurpose the patch onto another jacket that I can wear it on. Also gave me a very old Hurst patch also!! the jacket is far too small for an adult now it was 100% cotton and needs some kind of restoration but it will be nice wall art for my garage..

Many more pictures of the hold Downs to come. When I get the carbs back on and get everything finished of course you know I love showing the stuff off...
At very glorious day for Mopar man!!!

Our big swap meet at the beginning of next month they sell old mechanic jackets with silk-screened Dodge or Plymouth or whatever brand you like. I got one last year and gave it to my son when I brought the truck to him that said Dodge on the back. I'll look for one that says Plymouth this year and start filling it with some of these authentic nostalgic patches..

Awesome thread... got me thinking, it wouldn't be too hard to reproduce something like that would it? Just CNC now vs cast before? some kind of epoxy creation on top?
sort of like this? quick throw up with a 1/2" thick plate
took about 5 minutes to setup. I'm probable going to try to cut a few out of my scrap just to see if it's workable ... are the threads 1/4-20 ?
hmm I'll have to double side it for the hole and back cutting.

or the raised star, I'm liking this one for sure.

Yes on the threads. Or at least I'm pretty sure. that looks pretty cool! And definitely the pentastar that I got today is different from the ones that I got with direct connection air breathers.

Thanks, About how thick are they? I have some scrap 1/2" and 3/8" plate here I can get some small ones tested out on.

I just went out to the garage and set those up there I'll grab my tape measure and take a look. The one that's actually on the cover is sunken down and threated on. It's more of kind of like a glass Jewel. And it definitely came with the direct connection air covers. Although the aluminum one is awesome in its own right it has a perforated grippy kind of outer surface with a etched pentastar.

are these just images that you're making on the Internet or are you actually making them?

it's my software programs preview(what I see on the screen I'm supposed to get or in puter terms WYSIWYG)
gonna try and make em. here is my little CNC making a plate for my bigger heavier and more rigid CNC so I can acutually cut 4'x8' sheet of "whatever" like plywood ABS and so forth. (lied and told the wife it was for making cabinets:lol:)

ah yes! The original is probably flat and they stick the blue part on top. I have to make things like that for work, my guess is its back printed (blue and metallic) on clear TPR then glued on top of the pentagon shaped aluminum. I think for yours you could probably figure a way to mask the star off, spray the base blue, then fill the center void up with some kind of clear epoxy.

I used to have the Pentastar air cleaner nut, valve cover hold downs and oil fill cap on my old 70' Charger back in the 80's.

getting the carbs back on now and hopefully firing it up today for the first time in quite some time. I'll take one more shot of it with the carbs and everything on..

Okay one more with the carburetors on..
IMG_20190323_102100.jpg

Everything still pretty dusty from all the sanding, but I did try and protect the engine bay the best I could..

Okay over the moon and into the stratosphere I just found a cool spot for my spare air breather hold down that came with the valve cover hold Downs. My new throttle cable stop nut...
