I’ll admit that I don’t do much exhaust work other than cutting welding. Since I’m doing a custom build on my old D100, I want to attempt to build an exhaust system. Nothing fancy, just dual and maybe a crossover, if I can fit one under. I need the pipe that connects to the bottom of the exhaust manifold. It’s a 78 440 mild RV cam. Where and what size pipe. This thing is low to the ground. Thanks

What size and where to get that’s not $190 bucks.

See if a muffler shop can form you x 2 lips on pipe ( if you have the pair of factory flanges) & have them put a bend or 2 in ea side/one for you to build back on from there, for duals (it depends if their hyd bender has the former for your exh man outlet shape ( built a couple of N/A Y head/engine pipes this way)
There's a concern that sells discounted Walker, I'll. Track down name & Post for you (& others).
In Australia they Call that front pipe an "Engine Pipe" descriptive eh ? :p.
Best of luck.
PS on that 440 use a couple of Stock Plymouth Fury III Mufflers if on an RV/Truck - mellow but free flowing with duals, pair of 2" tailpipes will up low end torque & throttle response.

I'm not having much luck finding the pipe or the flange. Maybe I don't know what I'm looking for. Can someone point me in the right direction. Can I get this from the local parts store? I'm trying to steer clear of the exhaust shop. Are the flanges used among different brands. Can I get one for a chevy or ford that fits?

I got the deer in the headlight look today at the O parts store today. We got the Walker book out and three of the green shirts couldn't help. Nice as could be but, didn't find what I needed. We found a 2.25 inch one but, It can't be ordered. There are some helpful good web searchers on here. Can someone help me out.

It's called a wye pipe.

IF you kept the Part #ex the counter jumper book search try online shop/site called ' autoplicity.com ' they have pretty fair ground shipping charges. You have your own account. Can Paypal time pay & Sell OEM replacement Apex & Walker among others. All quality inventory & I've used them repeatedly for export. Having them ship lower 48 1st.
Google them, they have reply manifolds & gaskets too.
I think your RV 440ci uses Flat manifold flanges that could be gas axed out of Flat stock sheet plate following gasket as template. BUT if you can't find a Y pipe rep. new you'll still be back to a muffler shop that can form you 2 of those exh manifold bellmouthed pipe lips on some tube you'll need to start your Y or dual system - an old "Blueboy" hyd bender if i remember correct had capacity to form various shaped exh tube to manifold lips ( I built entire set doing this suit pair 2" outlet Chevy Rams horn corvette type manifolds. Doing entire system back to bumpers, using U-bends etc ) about $50-$100 in materials, Saving $1,200 shop charge for a dual system hand fabbed, as the Factory Y engine manifolds pipe just just unavailable.
I'll see if this phn let's me post pics of i think similar 440ci manifolds.(no it didn't)
Cheers Trev.
PS are these pics your exh manifolds ? If you've got The Walker Y pipe part #, I urge you to Visit Autoplicity.com & pop that # into their search box + email them via contact us too. Even if you chop something up like a replacement Walker ( who usually do cost effective exh products IMO ) you'll get the 2 REQ lips, flanges contained & some downpipe to play with. (See the encl pics).
Another source to try for low Cost exh items is jcwhitney.com or JCW.com , I've used them for eons but unfortunately victim of times & have dropped their ricepaper catalog loaded with juicy parts. They have a search menu too.
If you want to keep dual system quiet: use a pair of walker clone "Early Hemi" std mufflers, free flowing & low back pressure with duals. Only about $30ea.
Keep swinging the Bat, or this case oxy torch.

Try Napa also they still have a ton of older parts in their warehouses.

I bought 2 flanged pipes for the 400 when i did an engine swap.
Found them in the accessory part of the walker catalogue.
