Been seeing these long neck inline cutoff tools on a couple of the car shows recently. Only vendor I've found is Eastwood. Seems like I really could use something like this as I do my bodywork. Couple times I just couldn't get it done with an angle grinder due to access. Anyone have experience with these or know of a hobbyist priced option to the Eastwood? I need several pieces of fab equipment so I'm particularly price sensitive, or I have to go without.

4 in. Air Cut Off Tool w/forward and reverse

There are lower cost types that are more compact but they don't look like they would give the flexibility of access.

Don't know how I missed those on HF! The 4" looks like a direct knock-off. The 3" looks like it is a little less robust.

The small one is faster. I have one, and it works OK but it needs a thinner wheel. The ones that came with it are too thick IMO.

I personally think the HF 4” one looks like the best built one and I have never said that about anything HF before right now.

I can tell just from looking at those the guard around the wheel would have to go.:D

I don't own one, but have seen them on job sites. I'm almost certain they were Metabos.

I agree with the thickness of the cut-off wheels, the ones HF sells are too thick and does slow the operation of the cutter down somewhat. I found some cut-off wheels on eBay I use to cut, works great on body panels. Please check your arbor size for a correct fit...

That's ^^ what I'm talking about, lol. That's quite a bit thinner, more like the ones on my Matabo.

I have been using these in my standard one. Tell you what I have had one on for a year of heavy use and still cuts great. I am sold on them.

I take the shield off of all of them. You will love the reverse action though one direction is slower than the other. Check ebay. I buy a ton of used tools off of ebay. Always had good luck with that. I have probable 8 different die grinders set up with different bits and grinders of different widths and diameter. Keep those worn down grinders for tight fitting area. Do it... you wont regret it one bit. HA. (bit)
