Bushing trouble

Even using the correct size I had to spread the eye of the spring to get the bushing in.
(just so you know in advance)

I took and had the spring measured and the bushing is a 1.1\2 and the eye of the spring is 1 5\16 so how do i spread it out that much to make it work
