Which timing chain cover?

A friend of mine is building a 1969 340 but he's using a 1972 cast crank and vibration damper. He ask me which TCC he should use 67-69 or 70 and up i told i would have to think about it,which one would be correct?

I would go with the early timing cover (64 - 69) and then use the original vibration damper for the engine...

With the 60's style timing cover and cast iron water pump, the original style molded radiator hoses will match up with the radiator outlets..

Then put the engine to TDC and make a timing mark with white marker or paint on the damper to match the mark on the timing cover...

Then you don't have to swap the radiator and use flex hoses for the radiator...

And the original 69 style pulleys will work... So will the original alternator mounting brackets...
