The snout is the same, but the keyway is 90° off of the timing marks from the earlier 67 - 69 damper...

Just a thought... if the timing marks are 90 deg off couldn't you use the pass side tin timing plate and use another cylinder that fires 90deg later as the reference (knowing that for TDC of #1 would only be correct on the drivers side cast marker.)
