Where can I find the studs that hold the brake backing plates and axles on a 8.75 rear end ?
Reasonbly priced....I dont want to spend 50$ .

3/8-24. thread

thats under 50 though. dont know what else you could do but spend time in multiple junkyards looking for them for free. maybe someone on here has some they will never use.

and who knows if salvaged studs would have already been over tightened and stretched...

you can use the studs that hold the center section in ( also 3/8 -24 )-- grind a flat on the head of the stud to clear the back of the housing flange and you may have to shorten the threaded length a bit -- drive or pull them into the flange end -- if you cannot find 8-3/4 center section studs go to the junkyard and get some 9 inch Ford center section studs ( also 3/8 -24 ) and do the same procedure as stated above.

Dr. Diff has them. Don't remember but I'm sure that they were way less than $50.

I will try the dealer but will probably have to pay the premium for them in the end.. just seems like they should be a $1 or less fastener.

grade 8 cap screws = $4 @ Tacoma Screw.
Problem solved!

mbaird - the bolts from the factory have a splined shoulder under the head to assure that they don't spin and to be sure that they are precisely located. The heads are probably bigger than those on the Allen bolts you got and therefore distribute the stress on the housing end more broadly. I'd take those bolts back where you got them and get the correct stuff - is it really worth it to save a few bucks???

I just picked up my new axles from Dutchman and they are using standard fasteners on all their rear housings. The axle itself is centered via the bearing in the bore of the axle end.

But I do appreciate the input.
