Weekend Big block swap

-
Thanks. I am not familiar with the 402 pan. The 699? I think it is has the indentation like the 187, I believe.
hurry up week end swap ??? gotta start over now-------fan clearance is worse than mine, k frame interferance , header clearance, engine in wrong location, been better off to slow down---! just my thots.

Big problem.... just realized the steering kits the oil pan hard. Also oil pan is touching the k-frame. I was so focused on getting the headers to fit I over looked this stuff. This is turning into the swap from hell.

If it helps, I believe the 402 pan may be the shortest pan depth behind the sump without the CL notch. My '69 CL just scrapes the bottom at right lock. I also removed the lip on the K member bottom for added clearance for the passenger side sump front corner. A 971 pan would surely need a CL notch or your right turns get to be wide.

My passenger side valve cover is about 1-1/2" in front of the firewall. And yeah, fan clearance is still an issue.

Trim the K.

You can get a drop center link.

Worst case you buy a different pan, which is what you will most likely do someday anyhow.

The first time you do this swap is the hardest. Trust that it gets easier when you get to 3rd or 4th time.

I got it all fixed. I trimmed the steering column to move the engine over a little and that helped with the oil pan. Im very close to firing it up!!

Im already planning on doing a 512 B deck stroker in my 72’ duster next year! Now that i know what route to go!

Im getting wilwood discs for the drum spindle here soon. Then ill have matching wheels and start body work! Car is a blast!! Lol

Nice ! I didn't realize you had a column shifter, had to be a little difficult, as the swaps I've been involved with all had manual steering and floor shift. I just moved the steering shaft bearing after trimming the tube.
engine location and angle is very important, check driveshaft alignment.

Column shift is gone. Hits really hard on the header tube. I used my SCS cheetah which i love!

I figured as much. I didn't think the column shift would work.
how is the driveshaft angle and alignment

Took my boys for a ride to get alignment done. This is the first time for my little guy, both of them loved it! And nothing beats people staring when they realize theres two car seats in the back
