The stuff that was recommended/engineered for way back when was Dexron. ATF 4 is expensive but its fully synthetic, higher heat range, probably overkill for a 727 but itll work fine. Type F is no good.

I raced a hemi superstocker for 14 yrs. with type F , my trans builder was my partner back then, he recommended it .
Running it now in my 440/505 727.
Dick Maxwell , known as the godfather of the hemi , said in a Chrysler drag seminar in OKC one time many racers are running it with great success . I`ve used it in every 727 I owned -------------
